Pretty much this. While I'm not trying to intentionally beat up my truck, I live in CO and bought it to do truck things. They're tools not jewels.

None so far. I had this simonize exterior/interior treatment done on the truck before taking delivery. I've heard a few pepper sounds while going down the highways here, but zero marks in the paint, its flawless. Haven't had to wash the truck year either, still looks like the first day owned. Don't know whats in the stuff, but i wish it was available to my older tundras.

That makes total sense, drop $1-5k (partial or whole wrap) on something that is going to be exposed to the elements, other drivers and is a depreciating asset. Its a Tacoma people.

It saves no money in the long run, whats a wash cost? Especially if you do it yourself. PPF is gonna set you back depending on if you do partial or full, $1-5k, and you still have to maintain it. Its a waste in my experience especially on a truck and DD.

This man is smart. OP its a $35k Tacoma, a truck and a DD, just drive it. You are going to drive yourself crazy (been there) and empty your wallet trying to keep it perfect with something that is exposed to the elements, other drivers, etc. Like suave said you can't keep it in a bubble.

I did Suntek PPF with Ceramic Pro Gold treatment. Have a couple of hits to the PPF but that’s what it’s for. Do have a hit on the drivers side windshield/door pillar but that is not PPF.

It’s gonna happen but I do this treatment to all my vehicles.

This is my experience too. Cool trail.

OP, I’ve used the OEM touch up pen on the marks that are deep enough to possibly rust. It works okay, but the touch up area seems to blend in less well on the metallic (sparkly) paints. My tailgate had a spot that was down to the same primer you’re seeing, so I definitely covered that up.

It’s just part of the investment on these objects that depreciate....but when i sell, I get the cost back for the most part.

Maybe on a Porsche. I get the argument, I've done PPF and ceramic pro, but on a Tacoma, that'll probably run you close to $2-4k (depending if you partial or full PPF w/ceramic pro), I doubt come trade in / resale time you can convince someone to spend that extra $2-4k over a truck that has a few rock chips...

I get a “volume” discount....$1k for the Taco. On the Taco I did the front, hood, and side fenders with PPF.

I would never trade in, just private party.

$1k for suntek and Ceramic gold, even at a volume discount I find the hard to believe bud, maybe, but the average joe is not gonna pay anywhere close to that ( college friend who also did my PPF and ceramic pro owns a well known install / detail shop in Phoenix, have a good idea on cost). Its still a depreciating asset and a risk hoping you’ll get that return, most people are gonna only pay whatever book value is, it’s like saying your lift adds value. As much as we all like to think so that’s rarely how it plays out in the market. I’ve traded and sold them with and without PPF and the marketing scam of CP (use CQuartz now), same value come trade in / private party, if you take decent care of it you don’t need to throw money away on Saran wrapping it, especially given the market you are selling to (value minded truck people).

To each his own....$1K is what I paid. The cost of the PPF film and CP 9H is about $200...everything else is labor and profit. I think the value is there and so does the next owner from my experience. It’s a truck, I get it. It’s get dirty and may get scratches, chips, etc. but I see the value.

We can agree that our opinions differ, that’s OK, it’s ‘Merica except for CA which is going Communistic.

I get the cost is in the labor and honestly what the detailer thinks they're worth, a decent paint correction and install will at least be $800 in labor, so maybe he broke even, I know CP is cheap itself, but I know they set pricing guidelines for their certified installers, some magic sheet they use, could have sworn the PPF he told me was a bit more than that, but ya I guess I could see $1-1.2k for cost, nice friend you have. I paid about $1600 for the same on my 19 last year (ceramic silver though) and did the rockers and front, didn't fetch me anymore than my other trucks, but AZ is brutal with rocks. I don't know in my experience its always a wash, you may find someone who wants to pay the extra $1k you spent to keep the chips at bay, but most people are going to want to only pay whatever blue book is same with the dealer, they will give a f*ck if its ceramic coated or ppf'd. And for me I've had better luck and value in trading since I can get KBB private party value and a massive tax credit towards the new truck. So ya two perspectives I guess. I know my buddy does far more high end vehicles like your porches, teslas, etc. which makes sense that market come used is gonna more likely pay more for something without chips, scratches, etc. And I feel ya, IL is right behind CA, outta here in 8 months, fingers crossed. Cheers!

Yeah, I never trade in always PP sale as some dealers says that PPF and/or ceramic lowers their offer (?)....sure buddy. In the grand scheme of things a grand gets lost in the negotiations sometimes and in the past I’ll consider the buyer’s attitude and purpose for the purchase, I’m a trusting guy and will believe a story until you lie. I seem to move cars every 5-ish years and have bought/sold 23 vehicles in my time.

IL, yes, the shady cousin of CA! Get out while you can! It’s either Idaho, Texas, or Utah for me...all in time.
