Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Pretty sure that picture is for the 2nd Gen tuner, the 3rd gen is a 3.5L engine, not 4.0 as the picture says.

You have the OFT (Open Flash Tuner) handheld tuner. The USB cable connects the tuner to a computer to copy tunes to the tuner. The OBDII cable connects the tuner to the OBDII port in the truck to load tunes into the truck ECU.

the handheld I have is the powergate 3+ which is made by a company called Alientech.

the OFT handheld appears to be made by openflash performance.

Mine looks like the picture for the second gen handheld and while it may function like the OFT model, it does not utilize the computer software Linked in the OFT’s description

my understanding is that the powergate 3+ handhelds are only compatible with up to 2017 tacomas

 

@OVTune Any chance we could get these for 04B80? I've been running 2.0 beta for about 2 months and would like to try the Base 91 octane stock gears with tires 32-34'' (NOT stock tires).

That's funny. Mine 16 has been doing this since day 1 even through all the various tunes. Super annoying! BUT, the latest 2.0 has fixed it for me. So strange how all trucks are different and the tune fixed it for more but now it gave you this problem.

 

Quick question: Will there be any official versions of 2.0 Final AT without Gear Lock?

 

I see new files are listed for the 2020's but I'm a bit confused.

The one that's been listed for a couple months is:
91 octane 4.88 Gear

The new one is under "04B81 2020 Tune files:"
base 91 octane stock truck


The first one is not good. It shifts from 3rd gear to 4th gear too quickly.
And won't down shift when in ECT mode and accelerating.
Are these issues fixed with the new tune?
Are more going to be coming out?

I have a stock 2020 TRD Pro and just want better shifting.

 

The new files are for 04B81 ECU ID only.
If you have been tuned for a bit on a 2020 then your ECU ID is 04B80, which is not compatible with these files.

04B80 versions will be updated

Also, is there somewhere I can get the stock version? I dislike it so much that I would like to revert to stock until the update is out.

it should be able to be downloaded on flash manager, we had an issue with it not being able to earlier.


In preparation of vF Tuner release we have 35 flash cables in stock for vF Tuner.
it is the only ones we will have for *up to* the next 12 weeks.
Coronavirus wait times are out of this world, and will be the last batch *likely* before our new WiFi Flash cables are here.

Did I miss the updated 04B04 2.0f, which fixes the cold start issue? If not, is there an ETA on when that will be released? I am still enjoying all the other features in 2.0f 91 octane w/ stock tires.

 

Yep, I saw 2020 and went for it, but I'm also 04B80 (AT) here. Looking forward to getting the updated tune!
