Opinions on a regear? my pinion bearing has gone out, and considering the work its going to take just to replace all the bearings in the 3rd member, I'm considering getting a 3rd member and front differential from ECGS. I told the mechanic the price I could get the entire 3rd member for and he said that they would be hard pressed to beat that to just replacing the bearings. I'm a V6, auto trans, 4.10s w/elocker and 295/75/16 tires. Not a lot of extra weight, a 4xinnovations rear tube bumper and a toolbox that's 200-300 lbs. Right now from the research I've done 4.88s would be the best bet and put it back to a pretty much stock ratio. Any opinions, experience? Would the MPG be a lot different/worse from where I'm at now?

at least 4.88s yes, depends on your driving. Do a lot of highway? 4.88s. Do more city and wheeling and that's it? Go higher like 5.29

yes, more highway/city driving. Towing a 6x10 wood bottom utility trailer with 1 atv for a lot of the time for 3-4 months during the winter, and a 7x16 wood bottom utility trailer with 2 atvs sporadically during the year. Majority of the year I'm unloaded, and no wheeling.

hmm... just because you tow quite a bit makes me think you might want to go 5.29. Depends on how hilly your highways are though

It's SE Georgia, not very hilly at all, especially when towing.

Might be okay with 4.88s then. Someone else may be able to chime in a bit better with respect to towing with an auto.

With 5.29s without towing, the mpg would start going down, and the highway RPMs would be really high, correct? It’s mainly used as a work truck, during the busy season I’m putting 100-150 miles a day on it and not towing, so that’s really
My main concern. If it still struggles a little towing but better than it is now, I’d be ok with that compromise.

Correct, eventually you're revving too high and losing highway MPGs, plus your top speed goes down quite a bit. It sounds like 4.88s are the right call.

CBI sliders, ADS extend travel with compression adjuster coil overs, 9” Bilstein 5125 rear shocks, Icon Tubular UCA, Alcan custom leafs, All Pro Apex bumper and skids, NWTI rear diy bumper, 295/70/17 Cooper St Maxxs and nitro 4.88s.
I’m on 295/70/17 and completely armored, and have 4.88s my mpg got better after I re geared. If I were to do it again I’d get 5.29s.
