Its not uncommon for me to get covered in grease or metal dust at work so I still have to wash the towels pretty often. Having a seat cover like a wet okole would look nice, but it wouldnt really solve any problems for me cause Id have to remove and wash it frequently. Which from what I understand, removing and installing those things can be a pain.

I’m guessing Tacoma leather really is leather, otherwise it couldn’t be advertised as such. Having said that, the center panel of the seat that touches back and legs would be leather, the rest pleather. The hot/cold problem arises as the leather is treated, like Armor All’d to prevent stains. This seals the pores, Now the leather can’t breathe. If you can find an upholster with untreated leather, that is the best. If you sit your naked body on untreated, it will be body temperature in 2 minutes or so. Treated probably never. Learned all this when I ordered Natuzzi (Italian) furniture where they have a massive leather selection and pretty good education of your choices. Furniture can be ordered with treated leather to protect from the kids spilling orange juice on the couch and staining it, then the hot/cold issues come up.

I live in Denver. Sunshine most days. Extremely intense due to the altitude. The leather is not a problem here. Although I do have ceramic tint on all 4 + back window...

Cloth for me. Leather always has that worn/glossy look after only a short amount of use. Looks great when brand new, but that's about it.

Toyota states when they put Softex in your car, on the build, and the sticker. Why does it say leather-trimmed on Tacoma’s?

Does anyone’s sticker state Softex? Just curious, it states it on other models.

I’m pretty sure it’s leather in Tacoma’s. Leather-trimmed, which means seating surfaces.

Many models have Softex. Tacoma’s are leather-trimmed.

Leather is freezing cold in the winter and hot and sticky in the summer.

    I’ll never understand it.

That and we have Marino wool seat covers anyway

The leather seats in the Tacoma are heated, which is nice. In my last truck, they were also cooled, which was nicer. My skin is allergic to wool, no joke. It comes down to purchase increase, retail value, and preference.

Are you referring to Softex? Synthetic leather, all faux leathers so far, suck. I learned the hard way.

    Vegan leather. Lol.

I have cloth because I do not like or desire a sunroof. No sunroof mandates no OEM leather.

Well, damn... I stand corrected. Maybe it was the sunroof? Not sure, I still love my truck. I'll correct my post.

    Thanks for the snark-free reply!

Same. A sunroof means less headroom, and I never use them anyway. The sun I get through the other windows is plenty for me.

Must be a regional thing. Here in California, it doesn’t get hot or cold. SUPER cold where I live would be about 30 degrees (which might happen a couple days a year). And as far as being hot, we have ultra low humidity (no sweat) and I’ve never burned my legs in decades of leather driving. I’ll have to check for science, but pretty sure all my shorts are long enough to prevent skin on leather contact.:D
