Ex MIL lived all over NC. And when I was stationed in the Tidewater area lived down in NC. Moved here from Asheville where I retied from the Navy a long time ago. After whats her name left I gave the kitchen table to the Admiral at his house in SD where we pheasant hunt. Her mother gave it to her but she sold my sons and I out for a price. Apparently everyone has their price. After a decade now I can chuckle over it. But nothing funny over the death of a family. But at least the table made in High Point, NC made it to a good home in SD, neither of my sons wanted it. Move it down the road...

Don't judge the red curtains the locals laugh about them :) Not a lot of entertainment in Eureka, SD until we show up anyhow though LOL.

Send a lot of Christmas cards and presents to land owners. Took us most of a dozen years to gain access to all the private land that we have access to chase birds on. Being retied military helps a lot there. And some great people, like much of the US.

Woodcock from Mn. and Wi. on garlic toast. With entails, anchovies, onions and a few other things that take it over the top. From a more than 150 year old French recipe.

No. Just no. Don't recall Gibbs rule #49 but I will keep them oak. Not going to to there. Walls and ceiling will remain white. And after the last lady that talked me into painting a wall in the dinning room a different color "accent wall" going back and do everything white.

She grew up in Madison, Wi. and my friends called her the hippie. Duh, danger Will Robinson :) Many are painting their 70's oak cabinets white, milk washed etc. Maybe. Struggle with that right now.

Might be able to get into Navy machinery grey though! Navy haze grey not so much. But turns out is a favorite for many as a neutral color. Nah, seen to much of it over the years.

Been around the breed for ~30 years now. Should say been owned by them. Tried going back to English Setter but just couldn't do it, long story but in wolf country not a good idea on a 1K yard plus runner.

Current Toller is 5 at the National Specialty when he was 9 months was the only one to earn his BRT in 2015.

Like I said been around the breed for almost 30 years back when the Toller Apple L-Server and usernet was around. So many of the breeders knew me although I am a hunter and not a breeder. At the bar the first night quite a few of the breeders were around me asking questions about hunting. One of them asked me why I picked the Toller over all the other breeds for hunting. Caught me off guard, kind of.

I thought about it a minute or 2 and finally said because I like my dogs like my women. Just a little bit naughty. Everyone of them laughed, all females, they got it. No explanation needed.

LIKE X infinity! Looked it up even though the Toller in my avatar has long since passed over the rainbow bridge. Young guy has long since torn it up. But was Snipers pacifier in close quarters he would mouth it and go to sleep. Was amazing.

Making new ones now. No regrets.

@Cold Iron I know what you mean about having a bestest buddy for so many years. Yana, my last dog was a German Shepard/Boxer mix. I had him with me for 15 years.

His one job (self appointed) was to keep the rabbits out of the yard. He knew they would show up at dusk and would sit at the patio door just waiting for one to show up. If one did it was off to the races.

I caught a few in traps and would let them go in a nearby field. A few seconds later I would let him go after it. He never killed them but did cover them with slobber when he brought them to me. Not bad considering that mix is definitely not a soft jaw.
