I don’t “crawl” either. But there’s so much more gray area between IG fireroad picture taking off-road and crawling lol - those are two opposite ends of the spectrum aha. Those gray areas are where you’ll get caught with your pants down (though I bet the beach will teach you a lesson too unless it’s super flat).

    All I’m sayin’ lol.

cab mount - which you haven’t done.
Inner fender liners - you haven’t done.
Fender liner connector - you posted a pic of it

    Base SR’s don’t have flares.

I still need a more aggressive cmc too.
I still hit the top of my wheel well too.

None of this really matters to you though since you already said you’re pretty much a mall crawler/fireroad guy. I just want you to be aware when/if something else comes along not to be surprised with the insane amount of rub you feel out of nowhere.

    good luck broski!

go back down a long steep driveway and where it bottoms out start during the wheel full lock. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya lol.

should help identify some rub spots

285/70R17 is a pretty standard tire size for people to run on 5th gen 4runners and usually doesn't require much more than a bit of trimming and pushing the fender liner forward. The wheel well dimensions are pretty different but it also depends a lot on the tires and wheels used. Some combos will require a BMC but usually it isn't needed.

Coming from a 4Runner the amount of work that it takes to fit the same tires on a taco was honestly really surprising.

Sure you can get a “kickass” alignment on stock UCAs, just takes effort. Never said it was easy.

alignment isn’t the only reason people buy upper control arms.

you missed the portion where I said “a certain segment” could get away with 285s, 2” lift, stock UCAs and no CMC. This did not apply to those that like to wheel (such as yourself).

for a segment of the populace, there would be virtually no rubbing around town and very minimal if any during “light” off-roading. this would be fine for most everyone.

I wheel the taco hard hence why it is CMC’ed. The 4runner just seems light action and has yet to rub on the cab mount.

the fender wells might be slightly different but cab mount should not differ much. Not that I noticed anyway.

Here is a shitty pic of the wheel (285/70/17 on 17x8.5” -10 SCS stealth 6) at full lock. About 3/5ths of An inch away from the mud flap which also covers some of the cab mount.

no rubbing at all on that portion. Only rubbing happens at the front of the wheel well (which has already been trimmed). This was thanks to the alignment which pushed the caster forward (as much as possible) on a 2” bilstein lift.

Maybe it’s the angle or lack of lift, but those tires look too big to me. Could just be the pic?

what brand tire? They look like they run true to size like a Toyo when looking at my side shots with STT Pros.

61#s is light for an E rated 285 tire. That’s what my Coops weigh.

besides, weight is not nearly as big of a deal compared to diameter and tread width when we are talking about your other complaint of your truck being a “dog.” Anyone who says otherwise is full of shit - I just put stt pros 245/75/16 on my old stock steelies and acceleration/performance feels identical to the stock P rated tires the truck comes with from the dealer that are 20lbs lighter! No difference other than breaking takes a tad longer.

5.29s are your friend with those double overdrive gears in the AT!
