Last week my company provided all of us (idk? 3200 people, 3 shifts) with meals from chik fillet.
    Sandwich, biscuit, chips, soda, cookie.

Then 2 days later, the entire plant again with a huge bag of cookies from some gourmet cookie place.

Last nite it was chicken, meatloaf or vegetarian lasagna..from "Table 301" catering..again, the entire plant, 3200 people.

It was take out. They had it at 11pm at nite. Drive up or walk up outside in the parking lot.
    Crazy.

Lol, I mean I'm grateful, but dang, we're really not doing that well. I don't get it.

Yea that's always confusing when companies do that. Whenever I ask about random things like that it always comes down to "well we had extra money in such and such budget and if we don't use it we lose it" . Like at work almost every department bought new diesel Gators at the end of last year. Our site isn't that big. You can walk across it in maybe 5 min. It was in such and such budget and that budget couldn't be used for anything else useful so we just bought 10 Gators instead. I get the point of separate budgets and not just frivolously using one budget for another task but at what point do start thinking of the big picture? That would have been a nice little bonus for some employees, or you know, fixing all the broken crap around site that poses risks to workers. Nope. Gators. Idgets.

Sometimes it’s cheaper to spend the money on bogus stuff than to pay the taxes on that money had it not been spent ;)

it’s either that or if the stipend isn’t spent then that dept loses it, and possibly their budget gets smaller for the next year as the execs see it as “well they didn’t need the full amount this past period, so they won’t need it this coming period either”

Yea I know the whole if you don't use it, that's less you get next year. Still pretty flawed. Whateves. Not my money! Oh wait. It is. Yours too.

yeah. Most of the time that budget is separate from payroll, so handing out a bonus from that money is near impossible.

Guess they could do it in the form of gift cards.

I used to get a bi-annual $1000 AMEX gift card because we would rack up millions of points every year at my old job.

The hydraulic stabilizers have a leak somewhere around the reservoir and I can't pinpoint it or have to tools to fix it should I find it.

Gotcha . Yea we had one about 2 months ago leaking and I finally found it after 5 hours looking and it was a hydraulic line that had/was rubbing against some metal and finally rubbed a hole in it lol
