Getting the Bilstein's installed

I got a price quote of 70.00 an hour for install, he gave me a price of possibly 240.00 just to install the Billie's and another 69.99 for the alignment. Does that sound high? How long should it take a person who generally does these shocks to put them in

 

I was just quoted about $350 + $80 for alignment to do the 5100's on all four corners with new coil springs and aal, so that sounds about right. After reading Chris 4x4 dyi on this, i may give it a shot myself.

 

this is just for the fronts, and alignment.

 

do it yourself and save that money for other mods it really isnt very difficult just minor hand tools and a set of jackstand and jack

 

To give you another quote to compare, I was quoted at $225 to do 5100's front and rear, plus an AAL in the rear. Extra $100 for an allignment.

 

don't have a clue on how to do it. someone want to come to my driveway and do it?

 

I'll be purchasing some Billies for my front in a few weeks. If you have the time to hold off maybe between the both of us having no idea what to do we just may be able to pull it off.....LOL I'm not afraid to try to a certain point on mods.....if so...we try your truck first!

No for real though i suggest finding a good wrench in the area. I would surely look around at different places and get some quotes.

Although i do hear they are rather easy to do. Maybe find a post of directions on how to perform the mod and go from there. I'll let you know when i order my shocks.

Last night i did Klipps mod on offroad lights behind the grille. Did not think had the smarts to do it all. But a know what.......I did i.....in 2 hours and looks sweet.....should have pics soon.....

 

Okay found a place cheaper right here in Auburn. After they are install the shocks the guy states he aligns it to stock specs. Is that okay with them set at 1.75? Or what specs should I have them align it to? Thanks for your time.

I had the TSB done right before we traded grilles. I am buying the front Billies to level off. I you have all 4 then look up what others have done on this forum. I'm sure you will find pics also of what looks/rides the best.

Get 0 toe, 0 camber, and 2.4 caster...that is the optimal setting for alignment.

 

Thank you for the setting specs. Just not the handy man type you know? I would love a grill just like yours but don't have the skills to do it. I want one to put lights behind. I think it looks really good with lights behind it. Once again thanks for your time.

 

So just measured my front and rear heights. The back on both sides is 22 3/4 from the center of the center cap. The front on the passenger side is 20 1/4 and the Drivers side is 20 inches even. Is setting the Bilstien's at 1.75 going to level it out? Or still have some rake? I had the TSB done months ago, but have put nothing really in the bed. So I don't know if it has settled at all.

 

I think it'll be really close to even...just a slight bit of rake you probably won't even notice. The difference you have between the front and back now is 2.5", so if you minus 1.75" your left with 0.75". Also keep in mind that the rear arch isn't level with the front one, it's about 0.5" higher. You getting the 1/4" Toytec taco lean spacer? I'd recommend it. I put it on my truck and it is exactly the same height on both sides after the lift. I think it's only $20...
