Oh wow, that’s way too fast for route 51, which is a scary road even if you’re in a car. Way too many intersections on 51.

I caught up with a group of sport bikes on 2nd avenue near the Hot Metal Bridge, but they didn’t talk to me at the red light. They took turns doing wheelies after that, so I slunk off and did my own thing again.

I’m still on the fence about going tomorrow. If I knew the roads I would feel more confident.

I went on a fun group ride last year, random strangers actually that I met off a Meetup motorcycle group. Turned out the organizer is a VP at my company which was really funny to meet him there, small world. A nice variety of bikes too. The old gentlemen in the goggles on the trike was the best, except he was slowing us all down lol.

Had to do a little work at an in state site today. Just over 60 miles each way. It was 57 degrees when I left and in the upper 70s on the way home.

I did find that with the smaller tank I have to flip to reserve at around 50 miles...

Also, I noticed my fuel line has a slight kink to it. Any idea if fuel injector hose is more rigid than regular fuel line? Worst case I can throw an elbow on it, but I'm trying to minimize bends.

This is the same advice I’d give people attending their first TW trail meet.

Stay within your capabilities and your comfort level and don’t get suckered into doing dumb shit because people are egging you on.

As others said, ride your own ride. Don't run red lights to keep up and don't hurry at stop signs to keep up. If you get separated, it's OK. You'll catch up and they'll wait.

I got some time this weekend. Text me tomorrow. We can zip past all the protests in downtown.

I don’t think I’m going on the group ride today, I just don’t feel like I’m ready and would also want more people in the group who I actually know. I agonized over the decision, though.

I’m still going to head out today for a nice long scoot.

Same here, I’m terrified of getting hit from behind because I know that my reaction time and braking distance far exceeds that of 99% of ambient vehicles.
