So the truck started to idle rough, right as I’m gettin on the freeway it lost power, check engine light came on and felt like it was running on one cylinder. So I turned it off and it went right back to functioning normally and check engine light turned off.

took it to the dealer, they said It had a rough idle code, and lean cylinder#2 code. But they couldn’t replicate the problem (even though I’ve replicated it 3 times before taking it in) and since the check engine light is off there is nothing they can do.

I understand to some extent, but I lost it when they told me it might be because I have a TRD pro grill swap. :frusty:

I’ve read the crank position sensor tends to fail so I might just swap it out my self and hope it fixes it. Sorry everyone, just needed to vent. That was frustrating.

claremont? Or San Bernardino? Just guessing but have had bad experiences with those two. Also Capistrano but that's expected.

I’m picking it up today, I’ll see if I can replicate it again. The problem is if they can’t replicate the problem I think they’ll just keep telling me the same thing.

No much more south. I’ve never had a bad experience, but I felt like they weren’t really listening to what I was trying to tell them. I’ll be pissed if I can replicate the problem when I pick it up.

it is an 18, it should be under warranty, keep documenting your issues, get it to them a few more times, open a ticket with corporate, or request a lemon law buy back, if they cant fix it. you have options, i wouldnt pay for anything out of pocket on that new of an auto. Ski

You make a good point, it’s just frustrating to go through it and I take it out on trails so I don’t want it to break down in the middle of nowhere.

Lean cylinder #2? How does the ECM determine cylinder-specific A/F ratio? Was it maybe a cylinder #2 misfire or bank #2 lean code?

Is your truck within the fuel pump recall VIN range?

Actually I think it was bank #2 lean code, I assumed it was cylinder 2?

The oxygen sensors are downstream of the exhaust manifold, where exhaust gases from all 3 cylinders in the bank have mixed already, so you can have bank #1 or bank #2 lean codes, but not cylinder-specific.

Anyway, the fault could be with any number of things: flaky O2 sensor, flaky injector, flaky fuel pump, leaking vacuum hose, leaking intake manifold gasket, bad fuel, mice chewing wires... Could be time-consuming to diagnose without the symptoms active, and bad fuel or mice would leave you paying for diagnosis and repair. Take it to another dealer - should be a few to choose from in SoCal!

Sounds like low pressure fuel pump, check your vin for the recall. Lots posted on TW about it.

Damm.. well a lot of people seem to be leaning towards the fuel pump, any idea how I can check if mine is under the recall?

for those of us under the recall, is it something we can fix now? I only ask because the picture I posted says “remedy not available”
