I opted for insulated sides and I am still on the fence about whether or not I want windows. I have considered a solid door on one side to access items on the inside. For current owners, do you feel like the tent windows and rear clear glass allow enough daylight in? I'm planning on including a portable toilet and a shower in my Nomad build-out so thinking waist down privacy is probably preferred.

Tent windows are a lot of light lol. You should be good with a solid door and no window on the other side.

edit - it'll also limit how many curtains you need to make/buy!

X2, the tent windows allow a ton of light in. We do not have any side windows (Opted for none since we kept our Flippac windows covered 95% of the time, and we wanted more space for mounting things) and with the tent windows open it floods the interior space with light.
I’ve said it before on here but having one windoor at least is defiantly a good route. Specially if you have a swing out or carry bikes etc on the back. Solid gives you more gear mounting options, glass gives you some visibility, both are good options. Personally I’d probably go solid if I ever decide to hack a hole in the side lol

Western end of Mojave Road? That's my guess.

It's a bit heavy and awkward to install, so taking it on and off wouldn't be much fun. I would at least buy VO's mounting brackets (if you're thinking of getting the Alu-Cab awning) and have them install the brackets. That way they are positioned optimally and as a bonus, their brackets make the awning sit a little lower than the Alu-Cab brackets.

I have glass windoors on both sides.
As far as light, I made removable covers for all 4 sides, but I literally never take them off. So don't worry about that part.
But I'm extremely happy to have the side access. I'd definitely recommend going for that.

@BZ4X4 is correct. They are ROAM 95 L rugged cases. They fit perfectly in a long bed with one across the front of the bed, and one running the length of the bed. We have since added cushions to the top and are looking for back cushions to complete our simple L-couch. I have a picture somewhere. Hang on.

    [/QUOTE]

@Mr. Nobody : Thanks for the video tour. Are those Roam cases lockable? Where did you get the cushions? My camper should be done soon after the shutdown but I have a softoppper I camp out of now so I don't like to leave anything inside of it due to lack of security. One or two of these might be a nice solution to keep my camping stuff in. Plus, once I get my drifter I can just keep it stored in the truck until I build something.

Like @SliMbo4.0I opted for two windoors. I also wanted the visibility as I typically travel with my grandkid who sleeps slips on the bed with my wife. While I sleep below with curtains drawn. Concerning security, I thought the same as you, there is a large window in the rear. I was able to go this route because I also didn't intend to mount anything on the sides.
Whether glass windoors or Frontrunner doors, do get one or the other. It provides easy access to stuff in the truck. When hanging out inside, popping them open provides cross ventilation, and the ability to talk to persons outside.

Nope! Mortrero Wash outside Ocotillo Wells, CA. Mojave Road is definitely rad though. I'd like to do it again next year.

They are lockable. You can put standard Master locks on them. I got the cushions on Amazon. Apparently the size is pretty standard for a outdoor cushion.

Thanks for all the replies on the windows. On another note, have any of you installed a foam surround so you can leave the window open to the truck cab? I was thinking I might like to crawl through in inclement weather or have access to clothes and other items in the back seat?

Didn't you mention somewhere wanting the 160 case? I could have sworn I saw a posting about them. If so, how come? Didn't you like the long ones?

Er, how big are you? iirc it's practically impossible for most adults to pass through that window out the back of a tacoma. But if you had a tundra w/ the sliding rear window.

I barely fit, but I’m not the size of most Americans... good to know if I get locked out of the cab.
