My bet is 7:1 auto to manual.

When I was looking for a manual access cab I heard it was about 10:1 auto to manual and the same double cab to access cab. Makes sense because I drove 30 miles to buy the closest mt ac and there are a lot of dealers closer than that. But here the mt crowd is louder so take the poll with a grain of salt.

    Still thinking about it.
It's about the same ratio as men to women on TW.

Unsure what op drives but 3/5 posters in this thread drive manual. I think your math is off

Edit MT trucks winning poll. Hell yah!

Edit #2 on cargurus 33,990 auto for sale, 1,487 manual for nationwide search of 3rd gen. Or 20:1. But forums draw enthusiasts and manuals draw enthusiasts so this is not a good place to draw conclusions on general sale numbers

Careful with selection bias. I (almost) have a degree in statistics. :D or :( depends how you look at it.

Not sure if joke or not. My old Mazda actually had a “manual” mode instead of the sequential mode the Tacoma’s have.

yeah I’ve ran that search a few times on cars.com and Autotrader. People obviously buy more autos, just was curious what people on Tacoma world drove and was kind of interested in why.

I have only drove manual cars in my 8 years of driving, but thought a “truck” deserved an auto.

I test drove the manual to see what I was missing out on and couldn’t really justify losing $5,000 to shift my own gears. Even though it was more fun, would I really miss it when towing a trailer? After my ass was beat from a 3 hour woods race? After I spent 4 hours in a tree stand and my ass was numb?

is the perk of driving a manual strictly for mall crawlers and guys that are grey beards who won’t give into that “new auto technology”? Or young guys who just graduated from a Subaru and justify their manlihood based on the transmission in their vehicle ?

Since you asked.... I certainly don't have an opinion about it, but I know that I like the 2.7/5-speed combo for it's pure old utilitarian simplicity. Yeah you're right, it's an old guy thing I suppose, but not because I fear technology lol. We have a 6-speed auto. Mini Cooper sitting right next to it.

How do you know you have a Manual Driver in the room? Don't worry, they'll let you know.

That Subaru thing was me 5 years ago LMAO. I had a supercharged BRZ, then 2 manual second gens, a manual 3rd gen, now an auto. I’m sure some will try to crucify me for going manual to auto but

Gray beard and afraid of technology, check, check. Now I know why I had to have a manual transmission. I’m not proud, but now I know.
