Had anyone looked to see if these will work or could be adapted to the earlier trucks ?

Well, for the issue some pre wired 2020 Sport have, after root causing it as I explained in my last post, fix was easy enough!

First, connected bed light wire to a new jump wire in the main relay box:

    IMG_20200502_160850.jpg

Routed the jump wire out of the relay box, and into the main cab, near the driver sidekick and tapped it into IE01 wire #14 [light green - Cargo light hot wire per the diagram @caribe makaira shared before]

    IMG_20200502_160918~2.jpg

And thats it! Bed lights fully working and controlled by the cargo lamp switch as expected.

Hope this post helps those with issues. Thanks!!

What did you do to run the wire into the cab? Did you find n cut the nipple on the harness grommet?

I'm sure they could, you would just need a template for cutting the bed to proper size for the light.

Man love this site, Just installed my cargo lights on my 2020 ordered from sparks, what a deal!! The Toyota parts guys at several dealers (Puente hills ) are idiots, none of them knew that 2020 just plug and play. I was arguing with one - telling him I did not need harness or rely ... they told me I had to drop 300-400 bucks for everything wtf! Only paid 54 bucks with sparks ! glad I came across this post !! I also ordered brackets for my bed extender that I took off my 2013 before I sold. Installing auto tailgate lock tomorrow that ordered from Salinas Toyota online . If I have one issue with Toyota - the amount this truck now cost , I got a deal for my LG TRD sport 4x4 but still $43K- you think these things would come standard (cargo lights/ auto tail gate lock) - crap even Full led tail lights ! At least my headlights full LED.

My neighbor works for TRD - from time
To time he see’s my upgrades and I always hold off on telling him my 2 cents with truck haha . I use to work for R&D motorcycle division of a major Japanese OEM- and I would sometimes get tired when family and friends/ neighbors would bug me/ tell me what they hated about bikes I worked on. My neighbor knew who I worked for, and rides brand I worked for - he’s been the only one I could talk shop with and not get annoyed. So I do the same regarding my Taco .

Hey how hard was the install for the OEM Remote Tailgate lock? I can't seem to find any instructions, just ordered both the lock and bed light. I have a 2020 TRD OR DCLB.

    Thanks!

It wasn't difficult. If you click on my build below, I have the install documented. It took about an hour and a half.

Love the bed lights in my truck. Very easy to install (20 mins) and completely plug and play in my 2020 SR5 DCLB.

Ok, I just made the fix for the missing wiring on the Sport 2020, Thanks @caribe makaira and @TacoInCostaRica for the guidance

I didn’t want to make this because two facts, one, I am paying for a brand-new vehicle that is supposed to perform as expected and the second is that I didn’t want to do any modification that may lead to void the warranty even if this is a simple fix.

Since I have the light kit installed, I was waiting for the first service in the dealership so they take a look into the issue and fix it, but I see it coming… The service guy questioning who told me the kit was compatible, who installed the kit, you know these guys

Anyway, I was bored and decided to do the fix causing the less modification to the vehicle and hiding it from a service technician general inspection to the vehicle

This is a very simple fix, I used splices terminals for the missing jump wire, these are a pain to install since the cable gauge is too small

Here some pictures of the process
