Nice idea with the books. Ive always been searching for a good way to carry books and it seems like its never talked about. I built something just like this in my last build and it destroyed all of my books from rubbing all the covers. Still haven't found a safe way to carry books other than the few that fit in the glove box....

Do you have mesh pockets on the sides of the tent? Do you mind telling me how you did that?

Seems good so far. It's definitely a smaller volume of air than what you get with the bigger 12v fans, but appears to be running really reliably. I'm curious if it would be more noticeable if there was a better air intake – my truck bed is nowhere close to truly airtight, but I think the fan struggles to exhaust effectively when everything's closed. Thinking about installing a small vent somewhere to let outside air in.

Haven't tested it while camping yet, hoping to be able to get out sometime in May.

That's interesting. I have seen two other gfc's that were of the original design but did not have mesh pockets.

    It's DLX son!
The built-in pockets were only part of a small run of tents made right when they switched over from the original heavy vinyl tent material to the lighter, darker colored stuff. They didn't last long because it added too much time to the mfg. process to justify.

Can anybody with a GFC that has the window options do me a huge favor and measure the width of the rear window at the top and bottom as well as the height? I'm trying to order windows for my wedge build and need the dimensions to do so. The GFC rear window seems to be sized pretty well for the application and fit the lines of the camper well.

Yep, just measured it at 6'11". It won't fit anymore with beef racks/solar and soon to be new wheels/tires.

Can you explain why? I’m starting to see more people with the same attitude and I’m wondering why... I’m looking into buying one so I’m curious! Thanks!!

    I'm here for the memes
There was a bad batch of GFC's in the beginning. Tacoma's were one of the first platform to get them. The first 150 had bad hinges on them so that is why you see them breaking. Here's the thing, with any start up company there are going to be flaws. Obviously this is not something that they wanted to happen but it did. I just made the purchase of one for my new build, its actually pretty nice.

To option a Drifter up to $11k you end up with a much better camper than a GFC. Heavier and not as versatile but a nicer camper for sure.

I'll agree $11k is a lot of money but the Drifter is definitely designed more as a dedicated camper and it shows in how the wiring and electronics are installed and the larger size. The GFC is more useful for everyday life and doubles as a very functional camper. Its a nice world to live in when you have plenty of options on how to blow your money on toys. I had one of the first GFCs and only sold it because I was buying a new truck it didn't fit on.
