    The point is irrelevant, it’s still a right. So I guess I’m confused with what your point is?

    Just to white knight? Educate us on an aspect of the first amendment that really had no bearing on the comment made? Provide an opening to deeper discussion?

    Also, Congress has passed laws that violate the first amendment. As early as 1798 (Sedition Act of 1798), which was actually initially to fight partisan politics but passed under the anti-French sentiment. Expired in 1802(?) but was never actually deemed unconstitutional. Then we had another in 1918, 1942, and 2008. Notice how they all follow a trend of major wars? They have all been allowed to expire, never deemed unconstitutional. This last paragraph really has nothing to do with anything else, just thought we were sharing useless First Amendment facts?

    This is just a public service posting... just because they dont have a HC placard... doesn't mean they arent handicapped.

    My wife's brother is wheelchair bound with a condition that keeps him from walking.

    I had to take him into town to see his doc because his parents were dealing with other issues... well the HC spot is next to the ramp at this place... so I parked there. We left his placard in his parents car... oops.

    I walked back out to the truck to get something he had forgot and this lady gave me the third degree about parking there and not being handicapped. Even after I explained why I was parking there she still wanted to continue telling me how much of an a-hole I was.

    Moral: do a little bit of Investigation before you flame somebody for parking in a handicap spot.

    Handicapped or not, it is required to be displayed on a placard it plate. The odds are far better that the person parking there without one displayed isn’t handicapped as opposed to “just forgot it.” So 99% of the time, it’s deserving of being flamed. If we want to talk semantics, my DV plates allow me to part in designated spots, however 99% of the time, I walk just fine. So the reverse can be said to. So 1% of the time, those parked in a designated spot, with a placard or plate, deserve to be flamed too.

    No... I get what you are saying... the fact we left the placard in his parents car was definitely my bad... But I still wasn't about to make him roll his wheelchair all the way across the parking lot because of it.

    My rant was when I tried to explain to this lady why I was parking there she continued to give me the third degree and make a scene. That's what grinded my gears.

    I get it and would’ve done the same, just making the point. The last 3-4 weeks there have been a lot coming in here on their high horses though. I didn’t get that vibe from you but still wanted to voice the other side of the coin.
