Does my temp gauge look low to you?

We are starting to get colder weather where I live.. Today it was 45 degrees, driving home, I noticed about 4 miles (12-14 minutes) from my work, my gauge was still very low. The truck didn't feel very cold inside (heat was working well).

I attached a picture of how it looked when I got home (5 miles /15-16 minutes).

My truck has 50k miles and the coolant level is full.

Question:

1. Is that normal for my temp gauge to be there after 5 miles and 15 minutes?
2. Should my truck take that long to heat up?

 

Looks normal to me. I don't think mine goes much higher than that, even going up hill.

Thanks for all of the quick responses.. I guess what is worrying me is how long it took to get there.. It was way below there until about the last 2-3 minutes of my drive home..

Buy a scan-gauge, then you'll know exactly what your Water Temp is.

If everything is operating fine you are okay. Thermostat could be sticking open but that is better than sticking closed. It is tough to determine anything is abnormal without hard data. A gauge needle is not a very accurate gauge.

 

It's been 14 [-10 C] and colder here all week, gonna be going down closer to - 13 [-25 C] to -22 [-30 C] real soon. I'll let you know how this truck holds up in "colder" weather.

Seriously though, we routinely get that cold and even colder up where I live. I'll be posting some pics of my roof area [what do you call that place?] outside temp gauge soon enough I guess, to compete with the "highest temp displayed" thread, I'll start a "lowest" one.

Your temp looks fine but your fuel looks low! You better take it into the dealer to have that checked out!
