I added some rod holders under my Brute Force Bed Rack. Now I can mount the tent on top.

I use the sumo suction mount rod holders. Really happy with them.

I just made some updates to my 2015 Tacoma by adding the CBI high Clearance Front Hitch receiver so I can mount my rod holders just like I had on my 2004 before. I also have the Rhino rod holder on the top of my truck. So, that's plenty of fishing rods to carry. but I don't use the one upfront for long distance. Only when I'm at the beach to move from one spot to another. :)

    all tore up already
Passanger floor and out the back window. I must be doing it wrong but never had an issue. In winter hockey stick goes there but doesnt need window open. Rod condom things help keep eyelets from getting jacked up. But none of my rods are more than 100ish so maybe that's why I'm not fancy. Vertical storage I'd definitely be in the trees

They sell one for $199.00. This one cost $26.00 to make and it does the same thing. (Still have three more holders to attach today)
Harbor freight truck bed ratchet bar $20.00. Just add as many holders as you want. Easy install and remove.

It’s an older pic, but this is what I use. It’s just some PVC pipe with a solid cap at one end and a threaded cap at the other.

Seems like that would be about the best if you have to transport them a good distance assembled. One thing people transporting bicycles sometimes worry about is 70 mph wind & rain actually driving out the grease in the hubs/brackets/derailleurs/etc.

It works pretty well for the most part. It keeps them out of the elements and it surprisingly doesn't hurt fuel economy too much. Low frontal area, I suppose.

I usually just transport mine on the passenger seat floor, but if the gf is with me I'll move them onto my bed bars. The holder is a rod holder for boats I found at Academy.

Sorry for the lack of pics, I dont have it setup at the moment. I just use a set of yakima ski mounts (fatcat, I think its called) on my prinsu. I only have 2 rods so it works fine. They lock, too!

When doing these vertical setups.. have you all ever had rod strikes from
Debris? I would be concerned Having my rods exposed and losing a 1,000+ dollar rig. Just food for thought

Whether one is worried about debris or theft, it's best to put them in some sort of container. You could use schedule 40 pvc and mount it vertically. Most debris should be large enough to damage the setup.
