The problem is right now I don't think we're going to ever see a "green flag". Like there's no threshold that's accepted as "we're back", etc etc. Like my plant that I work in now, a few years back was floodeed - 5 feet of water in the building, we brought a lot of aerospace to a halt. moved building, etc etc.

We had a "green flag" - once we had the permits to open and customer approvals where needed, we were able to "green flag" it, pedal to the metal and get stuff going again. We don't have that here with these soft re-openings + social distancing.

Maybe. Maybe. Once someone comes up with a proven vaccine that's a "green flag" moment. But otherwise...is the unemployment a signal? But when that improves we still might not be able to go to the parks, is it when Chuck E Cheese is allowed to host kids birthdays again? When bowling alleys open? :notsure:

Edit: political leanings aside, and I hope this isn't too political, I do really like that Trump is calling out the news. There was plenty of times the Bush and Obama administrations kept quiet and didn't make a fuss about their bulls$%&, it's kind of nice to have someone (again, regardless of leanings!) stop them and say WTF are you doing???

Yeah, I glance at that thread sometimes too. :D FYI with chuck roast, it really wants to be braised once it hits the stall -- and I've found I can't go by internal temp for when it's ready to pull, have to go by feel. Literally sticking a fork in it.

That's how I do my butts. Fork and spin :D

Interesting. I hardly ever do red meats, it was just kind of an attempt. I'll probably finish this one out in the pressure cooker before I make a batch of yogurt tonight.

Is there a thread people can take their conspiracy theories to? Or an investment thread without them? Asking for a friend

    :p Anyway BACK ON TRACK

    Who invested in airlines? :boink::boink::boink::boink::bananadead:

I was about to but decided I'll keep it to cruise lines and wait and see about the airlines. Glad I waited. PS RCL is not doing well, but better than the airlines.

Airlines will come back before the cruise lines.

I told you guys, never invest in an airline in a GOOD economy let alone a shitty one!! Too much instability and downside potential with limited upside. Just send the money to me instead and I will use it better.

Its either .02-.04% or .2-.4%, either way much lower than projections and likely still inflated by labeling deaths by symptoms vs co-morbidity and positive tests.

That’s all I’ll say so I don’t push the line.

In other news I lost all of my gain on Friday/ the weekend, down to -5% on my portfolio.

Yeah the gubment in California started talking about back-dating cases. Can't find the article now but the gubment said they wanted to go back in time to older cases dating back to february (this was within the past two weeks they said this) and test everyone for the virus. Sounded wicked fishy, like "oh yeah that dude was dead for months but we just tested him and he was positive". I get it, but let's be real - not everyone can be tested when they die.

    https://www.livescience.com/earliest-covid-19-coronavirus-deaths-california.html

Later on, they start testing everyone too. Eat pavement on a motorcycle? Time for a covid test. I understand part of it - they need to know if the body needs any sort of special handling due to the virus. But, they're then attributing the deaths to the virus. There's also a lot of asymptomatic/carriers, etc. All this "tested positive again" thing is silly, from what I've seen. The reports are all someone has tested positive for it, and then tested positive again - not sickly, they just tested positive for it, which means they would have been a carrier one of the times.

I say the same thing. Airlines barely get by even in a good economy. I know that’s hard to believe when the charge $400 a ticket, but it’s the facts. Some investment firm released data a few years ago on how many seats they had to sell in order for the flight to be profitable and most of the plane has to be full.

So it sounds like, by definition, with this social distancing stuff people are doing, airlines can't be profitable (unless they doubled ticket prices with half of the plane occupied). We are going to just have to suck it up and quit with the distancing crap.

It's awesome, like at first they're saying stay 3 feet away. A week later, it becomes 6 feet and so far that's kept, but now they're talking about how that's not even close to being far enough away and you have to be like 20 feet away :D

Whatever, I'm good with it for now, I don't know how many times I'm sitting in line at the grocery and there's some idiot 2 inches behind me on speaker phone because we all want to hear about their mother's bunion.

Yea this is a totally different kind of problem. It's not the airlines' fault, they're ready to go. We may have to go back to horse and buggy to keep our social distance.

I wear jeans for work--I'm technically "administration" but my department is small enough where I end up pulling cable and such with my techs regularly. I'd destroy dress pants way too often, so I don't bother with them.

I used to buy nothing but Levi's 505s, but the last few pair I've gotten have worn out really quick. Holes form in the corners of the back pockets. I bought a pair of Lee's equivalents and will see how they fare. I also got some Wranglers, which feel tough but I don't like the colors as much.

I actually don't like the flex. I prefer the thicker conventional denim. Levi's flex on a pair of 502s I had was just too much. Lee's isn't as bad--it still feels close enough to a normal jean.

Definitely going to look at the 5.11s others posted.
