Few people would be able to operate a Clutch that heavy .

You had the 4AT and not a CVT correct? As a former Stick shift guy the Subaru CVT is the only automatic I've ever really liked. I realize they can't use those in trucks however.

More than likely it's to keep people from ripping the center out of the clutches and twisting off drive shafts.

Lol at the “fastest cars are...”

Fastest car, fastest shifting...means nothing. Except to people who like fast cars.

From what I hear from folks who have EVs with heavy regen, they do one pedal driving and have a lot of control. In my mind, that is an acceptable MT-less future.

Probably even worse than that ratio for access cabs to double cabs around here. Went to 3 area dealers that stocked at least 20 or more tacomas...only one dealer had a 4 cyl access cab in stock. I tried to order one with the sr5 trim and wanted options from these dealers. Their otd prices were insane, like it was a major bother for them. Ended up calling herb chambers toyota in boston ma. to find one in stock on their lot.

I bought a auto because I can’t stand feeling like I’m shitting on the transmission every time I fuck up on the clutch off road. Go drive a heavy duty clutch on a Old school jeep or willys and you’ll
    Never want a manual again.

Maybe it’s time for a 3rdGen jake-brake mod to get all the manual guys prepared for the future?

I don't have a problem with any of my old school heavy duty clutches, lets see there's the 79 CJ7, the 67 Chevelle or the 69 Vette. If you want an old school heavy duty clutch try a 60's Big Block

A bit more engine braking would be nice. At the same time, I am really content with the setup.

My dad has a 59 willys and it’s so hard to drive. Even he has a hard time driving it you really gotta finesse the clutch.

I learned how to drive a MT on my future wife's 1965 Mustang. IIRC, it had a 260 cu straight six engine, a 3-speed transmission, and a clutch so heavy I thought I'd have to use both feet! Then, we'd go driving around the hilly streets near UCLA with lots of traffic!

When I bought my 1981 Toyota 4x4 truck, the clutch and shifting seemed so effortless by comparison, I finally decided I actually LIKED driving a MT.
