If it was me, I'd go check out that certified pre-owned. When it comes to used, I find 50k miles to be a sweet spot. Enough miles for any factory defects to be out, but low enough that poor maintenance (trans, diffs, etc) is not yet a factor.

Realize with certified pre-owned, you're buying a warranty. The inspection is half-ass at best, the dealer just pays Toyota to certifie it for an extended warranty.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I’d be driving that red son of a bitch, tonight! Edit: and have a honkin’ stainless exhaust tip on it by Friday, lunchtime

If you can get a used one for $27 or under that would be a great deal. As long as it doesn't have 60k plus miles, bc 60k is the cut off on the powertrain warranty. Not sure what the CPO extends, but if it comes with a warranty that's great

Some more info might help. What packages are on it, bolt on options, etc. Just using new ones as an exampled, bare bones TRD OR 4x4 can start at $39k and top out at $49k depending on all the installed option packages. I know you are looking at a 2017, and folks can tell both you and me that price swings wildly based on the "toys" we add. First, gut reaction is that it's a good deal, but more info would help everyone chime in.

Id personally go with the lower milage one, things seems to break right after the warranty ends anyway

I’d think about if you want the blind spot and rear crosswatch monitor. In 2018 Toyota made their safety sense package standard which added lane watch and adaptive cruise control. Up to you, but those extras do affect resale. In 2020 they also added power seats, new monitor, and retuned transmission shift points ( couple big complaints from Gen 3 owners). I’d at least drive a 2020. I don’t know your financial situation but If it was me I’d get a 2020 off-road with the 0% financing for 60 months. You can get pretty close on the pricing of a used one right now.

I've found it's much better to set a budget, and then buy the truck that makes me happy. This is way more pleasant and less frustrating than simply trying to find the absolute best possible deal.

Believe me - no matter what you buy, 3 months later you will see something else that seems like a better deal than what you bought. That's not a problem if you bought a truck that was in your budget, that makes you happy.
