Totally get it, I would definitely do your research beforehand and collect as much unbiased information you can before making a decision. I have changed my suspension a couple of times which isnt a big deal but something to consider as you plan your build.

I would definitely have a clear picture of what your truck will be when completed as many items can impact others.

I won't speak for everyone, just sharing my experience. My dakars are loud. But they've handled weight well at both speed and technical areas.

Although they did take some modification to jive with my hammer hangers.

Good choice. I know a lot of people like the Deavers. I was torn between Icon RXT and Deavers. Icon's were on sale so ended up with that lol.

If your truck is going to be used heavy duty, everything you throw into it better be too... You'll know what you need once you really start using your truck, trust me....

    ^ Yup.
Found out I needed a new leaf spring pack when my stock ones looked like this ______ and my brain jarring in my head when I go over bumps. I may not have an engineering degree, but I am pretty sure those are supposed to have an arch on them when leveled and without weight lol.

It's not too bad. I hold more value in skids, sliders and the best tires you can use before killer suspension.

Suspension won't limit you that much if at all. Lack of traction or severe trail damage is another story.

I'd rather save money with a perfectly acceptable bilstien or OME set up and spend the extra cash on a real solid winch or armor personally.

Dude, you own a truck with hundred if not thousands of dollars thrown at it... Cant ask for a the 8oz sirloin, expect it to taste like a porterhouse on a McRib budget... listen to sound advice, or go wheel, break, repeat.... in the end, its what it ends up being anyway

The suspension was number one for me. I am still running stock front skids lol. Not really a lot of rocks in my area and where I "overland" is up in the mountains or in the forest near swamps. I needed suspension for the dips and washboard roads/trails cause I like taking them on going like 30mph-40mph. Winch + tires were tied for number two. Mud pits are the best :fistbump:

Very nice. Sounds like you're having fun.

I think the biggest things is it depends on what type of adventures anyone is going to go on. If you're going to a site that has well published maps or a well known national park, you'll most likely be fine.

But if you're adventuring on your own means then you're not really sure what's out there til you get there. I'd always trade a couple inches of body height in place of having my truck being protected and able to get me home in case I come across difficult terrain,

, or more commonly if conditions change from the way out to the time we head back.

And this is all just in terms of starting out building piece by piece.

I think my most commonly used price of equipment besides skids is probably my air compressor haha.

Ya, definitely will get skids later. Have a compressor already and quick deflates. Will probably get rear bumper first then skids. I have been trying to baby this thing for so long. As soon as this thing gets completed, it's going to... Big Bend National Park. My heart aka wallet ain't ready for MOAB just yet if something breaks lol.

Just trying to direct funds appropriately! So far, gears, topper and rims and rubber have been the big dollar items! Everything else has been nickel and dime, but it adds up!!!!

Sounds like a plan! In the mean time just keep a mental note of where your low points are. The Y pipe dip, transfer case, gas tank, diffs in general. And have fun!
Awesome! You'll be rocking and Rolling. I'll just say my bit once and if you have questions shoot me a PM. Have you looked into radios if you're planning I doing some remote traveling? Ham radio and satellite beacons like the in reach device could be the only thing to save your butt out there if you get into trouble.

So rewarding though. We hit parts of North West Maine when we go out and we know we are probably 1 of 50 people in 80 miles. Very soothing.

You know, some of what I've bought has been based on my own "research" some on others suggestions. I did the Prinsu racks and have gotten a lot of grief for it, people suggesting Front Runner. Guess I'll see how the Prinsu treats me
