Gotcha. I’m still a student, but I’m 30 so I try to avoid campus and the college area as well and live about as far away from campus as you can lol. Pm me some addresses if you want and I can give you some input on the area. Lots of nice neighborhoods here, even somewhat near campus, but there’s a few I’d avoid especially with younger kids and we do have our “ghetto” but it’s not too bad. Again I’d avoid it with kids though.

Any "ghetto" in Flagstaff cant be anywhere near as bad as what we have down here in South Florida.

Hence the quotation marks lol. Again just an area I’d avoid if possible with younger kids. Like I said, shoot me some addresses and I’ll give you my opinion. The wife and I have been here for about 5 years but we’ve known the area for 10+

Don't know any roofers, but for painters there's Colors by Coronado. No idea what their costs are, but they do good work. The other painter I work with is Claige Painting, but they're Commercial only usually. However, they might be open to residential work right now as things are on the slow side.

Broke down and ordered suspension for the Taco last week. Just need to figure out rear leaf situation. May go with an Add-a-leaf solution for now. I liked the Headstrong 3-leaf pack that I helped @TailHook install on his truck and am leaning that way as he's happy with it but I'd be interested to hear anyone else's recommendations.

I had the HS AAL in my truck. Kept the overload leaf in for a lil extra lift. As the truck got heavier. It just couldnt handle it much. Went with All Dogs Offroad Leaf packs, I have em in HD setup because of weight.

@Snaeper I understand that HS recently changed their design on this aal but you may want to verify with Marie and Alan on a couple possible issues before you jump. It could be that I'm a 2nd gen and may not apply to a 3rd gen, and it may only apply to the old HS aal's. In my case I had to cut the retainer down to avoid contact with the fuel tank strap. Also I absolutely should have left the overload spring out as the rivets on the new leaves contact the overload springs. If you look closely at the bottom of this picture you can also see that the rivet is damaging my "slip pad" on the overload spring too.

Is this your overload leaf down here? If so this leaf pack is set up terribly wrong. The overload is way too long. It should not be longer than where the retainer holds the rest of the leafs. Also if it is that flat it does nothing for you until the leafs arch negative

Yes that is the overload spring at the bottom. It didn't hit the retainer at all...until I got into some rough sections off road. Once I'm off road with tires stuffed and wheels hanging is where I get the contact. I called HS after this happened and they said that they recommend not using the overload springs with the 3 aal for this reason. At least they did before the redesign. Apparently (and hopefully) they addressed both issues, including the fuel tank contact, with their redesign.

Oh and I have the same contact on the rear overload spring retainer too.

I had Headstrong AALs on my 3rd gen for the last year (just sold them to @Dan H ) and did not have any of the issues you have. I think the new design has been out for over a year now. You do have to drill out two of the factory retainer rivets (which is a pain) and add on the new retainers that come with the AAL. It works perfectly with the factory overload leafs.

No interference issues with mine, either, and I left the overload out. Grinding that rear retainer off was a PITA, but all in all not too bad. My goal was better performance with the Fox setup and HS 3AAL versus lift...it's exactly what I was looking for based on how I use my truck.

Recently towed my late uncle's '72 240Z back from CA with a UHaul transport and it performed great as well...wasn't winning any races, though

There's gotta be a better way. I have a cherry picker, chains, load leveler.... I can't wait until mid June to receive these parts.

Well, look where the holes are- should be on the head right under where the valve covers meet. Towards the back on driver's side, towards the front on passenger's side, You should spot 2 threaded holes in each location.

Get one of our local fab dudes on the horn, see if they have some scrap 1/4" or 3/16" steel. Offcuts out of plate bumpers would probably be EXACTLY the right size. Make your own hooks. All it's gotta do is be cut to safely hook on something you have, and then match up to the 2 threaded holes. Go to a hardware store and buy 4 grade 10 (they'll be metric I guarantee) bolts and boom, roll your own hoists.

Every engine I've hoisted I've used 4 points, and mostly head or manifold bolt holes. I have chunks of metal as well as brackets to use, but just want to make sure I use solid bolt holes safely.

    2 seems weird, and sketchy!

I've only ever seen it done with 2... :notsure:

Toyota themselves says do it with 2, so I guess it must be OK.
