    Hi everyone-
    I own a 2008 Tacoma sr5 prerunner V6 4.0L

About 4 months ago I noticed a huge decrease in gas mileage and power, I’ve taken it to quite a few shops and this last shop I went to has me thinking.....

On the mechanics snap on scanner, it was reading cylinder 6 was misfiring twice about every 3-5 mins. He has been a Toyota mechanic for 35 years and mentioned he’s never seen anything like it.

I was just gonna go ahead and replace the ignition coil on cyl # 6 but I did the “tick” test and the coil seems to be working fine?

I don’t experience any engine misfire shakes or anything at all while driving, you would think if it is actually misfiring the check engine light would of came on by now.

I’m really stuck in this situation and getting 10 mpg is really starting to drain my wallet lol

should I sell the taco and get a tundra? Just kidding

Below are the things I’ve tried, any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated

    New spark plugs
    Clean MAF sensor
    Brand new clean air filter
    Cleaned throttle body
    “Tick” tested all 6 coils

Maybe switch coils with another cylinder, and see if the problem transfers to the other cylinder?

I believe the Snap On scanners are the only brand that displays each cylinder like that. Ain’t cheap either lol.
I’ve never seen any other auto scanner be able to do that
