You could probably get a pretty sizable piece of starboard for less, but it won’t be plug n play or cut nearly as nicely unless you’ve got a router setup.

When did I say otherwise? I’ve never attempted to justify the cost of the mountain hatch. It’s super nice, does what I want it to do, and was affordable for me. I don’t like the other options to replace the tailgate surface as much, and don’t want to put on knee pads every time I want to grab another bottle of Dom from my cooler.

To be clear: if you got cash to burn, buy this mod. It’s really nicely made.

1/2" Starboard in a sheet big enough to make one of these from is $234 plus shipping. You would be able to cut 3 out of that sheet but you have to get the 96*48 to make one. The Mountain Hatch ones are expensive but it's easy to see where the cost comes from.

There's always that person on car & truck forums who can't fathom why other people don't have the exact same preference as them, and think people want to hear about it.

It’s fucking everything! And it gets old… occasionally I get pulled in (I try to stay away as much as possible)

I know when I post things I’ve done it’s just to share not ask anyone’s opinion… I dont care if anyone doesn’t like what I spent my money on for my truck for my use.

I think the pro grille fad is stupid but I’m not going to reply that to every (or any) person that post a picture of it :rofl:i keep that shit to myself because you didn’t spend any of my money

Yes Starboard is pricey, gets used a lot in the marine industry. I myself think it’s priced about right, good stuff ain’t cheap. The hold up on my part is , Starboard is heavy and scratches easily.

Used standard woodworking tools on it. About $120 Cdn.

The main benefit of that ‘hatch is it balances the center of gravity. I get 150% better drifting now. The rear end really kicks out in the moguls.

Ive seen some variably cheaper but no I do totally agree. It’s just like roof racks. Like I can spend around $400 all in and make one myself similar to any extruded rack but it’s not going to look nearly as nice.
