The filter will get dirtier faster as well. I had a half a hp pump and motor on my BIL above ground pool with the plumbing the pool came with. Then we put a real filter in it.

Btw....all motors spin at 3450 rpms... the impeller size is what moves the water. Increase the impeller size (the gap between front and back/ the chutes) and water flow will increase.
