Think I might be pushing it asking for 1000 more off the truck AND taking those fees off? I just wonder because I had another dealer tell me he takes $4500 off any Tacoma. The only problem with that dealer is he didn’t have the truck I am looking for

I would also question that dealer, I highly doubt he takes $4500 off ANY tacoma, and is that with rebates? The $299 for sure needs to go, guessing thats window tint or something they added on. You should really press them on the $999 delivery fee, what the hell is that? $999 to install wheel center caps, pull the plastic and run it through the wash? There's the destination fee already factored into the MSRP which is right around $1000-1050, can't remember exactly. I've never seen a $999 fee ontop of that and quite frankly is outrageous, you should never pay more than a few hundred for dealer fees. Not too outrageous asking for another $1000 off, if you think about it, alot of us have been able to achieve 12-13% off MSRP prior to COVID and without any rebates. Should be even more achievable given the current circumstances and as you've seen some getting 15-16% off with the rebate as well.

Ya I wasn’t the craziest about that dealer either hence why I didn’t push. Probably take $4500 but end up throwing more bullshit fees then this guy. I’m going to try to get these fees knocked off at least. Really hope they can do well on my trade because that is basically all I am putting down. I guess I will found that out soon enough

I do know Jalopnik was reporting a massive shortage of truck inventory with most dealers going to less than 30 day supplies on lots, so its gonna be harder to a) find the config you want and b) negotiate as dealers start to realize they have the configs everyone is looking for.

Good luck man, definitely shoot for 12% off MSRP without the rebate and you're good. Don't let them get you with all the bullshit come finance time, like extended warranty, extracare, etc. And good luck with trade, thats gonna be your biggest fight honestly with used car inventory stacking up and values free falling too.

Thanks. Yeah the whole trade thing is probably what I’m most worried about for the same reasons you listed

Toyota offers that to SET also they are just to stingy to post it online but if you say you saw it online then dealers in the southeast will admit that its actually true, but probably reluctantly

My trade value is down 24,000 to 23,300 in less than a month. Luckily we previously agreed on my trade value when I ordered my truck a couple weeks ago

All I know is someone on here back a while ago when talking to the dealer found out that the rebate all the other regions were getting he could get if he didn't do the special rate financing, so yes they are trying to hide it but my guess is that SET is trying to pocket the extra as much as dealers trying to make extra

Exactly and yes you can't do both no matter what region. It actually is better for them if you take the rebate since TFS covers that and they don't have to lose that on the truck, so makes sense they wouldnt mention it because they can say look we are discounting it this much (including the rebate that the customer is unaware of).

I’m in SET. One dealer I was in referred to it as dealer cash. I just kind of laughed in my head because it didn’t matter what he called it. I knew what the number I needed to be at was.

2020 Super White Automatic Premium OR 4WD

    Northern California

    MSRP 45,013

Dealer is offering 40,665 before taxes and fees.

Claims it’s already 1500 below invoice and therefore non negotiable. Thoughts?

Not below true invoice. They are at 10% off MSRP for a highly desired config and in CA, which is a great deal for the area/region it seems, but not a great deal outside, same truck I paid $39.2k back in late Feb with only the $500 military rebate (MSRP $44.8k). Its still a good deal and given its CA I don't want to tell you you can do better, and with inventory drying up, they probably wont negotiate too much.

Follow up question, what are your opinions on not putting down a down payment since it’s 0% interest.

I'm sure there will be counter points, but personally, I wouldn't be interested in putting any money down on a 0% loan. The money isn't costing me anything to use and I much rather have that extra cash in my bank account. I guess if you really wanted to lower your monthly payment or go from maybe a 60 month loan to a lower term one, it might make sense to put money down. Even then though, I still think I'd take that down payment money and sock it away in the bank. Just my 2 cents.
