Have you rolled your taco?

So it seems for the swaybar delete debate that it comes down to if you like how it drives on road without it and if the it is worth the increased risk of an on road rollover.

So lets get some numbers.
Who here has rolled there Taco on road? Did you have the swaybar on or not.

 

Mine was rolled when I bought it. It still had the sway bar on but I've since taken it off.

 

I didn’t see an option for me. Haven’t rolled it but I want to eventually

 

Never rolled a tacoma but rolled a 83 just like this twice, first first one was slow motion, second one killed it 175000 miles after the first one.

 

Now that’s a great looking truck. Loved those 70s and early 80s models.

 

I wish car companies, like Toyota, would make limited runs of modern retro vehicles. I had a '77 just like this one I high school. I would buy a new/old version of it in a heartbeat. I loved that little truck. It was yellow when I bought it and I had it painted black by MAACO for a whopping $99. So cool.

That's not going to happen. They could make and sell one that looked the same but they can't legally make one exactly the same with the changes in government mandated emissions and safety requirements so in essence it would be a completely different vehicle.

 

Never rolled a Tacoma. I removed the front sway bar. I love the handling and the ride quality now. I drive through corners faster than most most of the time.

 

Having stiffer springs will make removing the swaybar safer. I would not recommend doing it with stock coil springs. I've got my swaybar off with 600lb springs and it definitely leans into corners, but I have never felt close to rolling it.

 

It seems so far based on results that the only people that have rolled have had their sway bar on. Does it give a false sense of security? Or do the people without it drive more carefully/ back off when they feel the body roll.

 

Another huge factor is whether or not your truck has electronic stability control. That is hugely effective for preventing highway rollovers.

SUVs used to be one of the more dangerous types of cars (in terms of highway fatality rates) due to their propensity to roll over during evasive driving. Now that ESC is standard, they are one of the safest.

Wish my truck had it. I keep the sway bar on, but no way it would pass the moose test without ESC.

So definitely don’t take your sway bar off a Hilux!

Sway bar gives less notice and less body roll before it rolls.

On your second question that is definitely a no.
