Nice. Been down that road many times in my old Nissan in High School. I'm from Kanab, UT. Live in SLC now, but still get down there alot, my parents live in Kanab. It's crazy how popular the area has gotten over the years....

Kanab used to be a sleepy little town.
I was there last year and was surprised at how touristy it has become.
The tourist industry is a double edged sword, IMO.

It's funny how all these roads get trail names now. That's the east fork virgin river road, to the Harris point road in my book. I guess the interwebs demand they now be called "trails". Anyway, doesn't matter what I think...they are trails now, lol.

Agreed man. It bums me out for sure. My parents are retire NPS rangers, they've lived in the area since before I was born, definitely seen it change alot. Luckily there are still alot of undiscovered secret places around Kanab and on the AZ strip!

Interesting, i just figure they named it that because the private ranch there is called Barracks Ranch. I started it in "reverse" from road 43 by the coral pink sand dunes, and went all the way to the Carmel junction. people along the trail just called it "20"... "stay on 20 and you'll get to the river"

My girlfriends parents say the same thing, they live in St. George. The area around the river crossing was definitely busy. but the 80 percent of the trail going back to the 43 wasn't. I ended up finding a different area to camp uptop goosebury mesa to avoid the crowds

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Out again, 4th time in the last month. Not enough though! At 6,000ft elevation, but most snow gone now. Pretty bad greasy mud on side logging roads, used crawl to get out of a couple spots. Put 3 good size dents in my passenger door, a log flipped up from the side of the road and whacked the truck pretty good. Quite a bang and knew there was damage. Oh well, that's what trucks are for, get them out in the bush and use them as intended. About 6,000 off-road miles on the truck in less than 2 years use. I don't feel normal unless I am solo out in the bush. Need the peace and quiet.

Yeah I have thought of those, would be good in some situations. In this case would not have helped, just freak luck the way it bounced up. Like stepping on a garden hoe and having it flip up in your face, same thing.

What i really need is some type of treatment for my black wheel well mouldings. The back ones are really getting beat up from all the mud and rock spray from, starting to get chewed up and turning gray/white at the fronts of the mouldings where the spray from the front tires hits them. Going to try some 303 spray first, but maybe there is something on market specifically for that. Not Armor All, hate that stuff.
