Pretty much but then old habits die hard like correcting for Arc blow without giving it a thought .

While your newbe friend freaks out and says the Arc is coming out the side of the electrode

It took me years to weld vertical down on even sheet metal then we are going back to the seventies.

Doing your own projects no big deal but bad habits are easy to pick up.

Since in school you cool whatever your welding in a tank just for that so the teacher can look things over without burning there hands .

This gets to be a habit testing at a 3rd party site for a bend and tensile test walk to the sink and cool the test pieces most places will let you test again some can be strict and complete the tests most times a failure weird things do happen.

You keep talking about "habits". Can you tell us how to weld the joint? This made no sense at all.

I ended up going to the optometrist yesterday to have it taken out. First time I have gotten metal in my eye, so it made me nervous. He said it had worked its way beneath the surface and had to dig it out with a needle type device.

It is all good and feeling normal now. Thanks for checking!

I am wearing my welding hood on grind mode most of the time now.

Glad you went to an eye dr instead of another type dr that doesn't specialize in eyes. Glad it's out and getting normal. Protect them eyes

No rust or anything? That's good. When they removed mine they had to grind the rust off, this was about 10am. I felt fine until around 4pm when it started hurting badddddd. I was expecting it, because the doctors told me to but they at least gave me percocet for it. Next morning it was fine.

It really does make you more comfortable while you work. At least for me. This is my set up whenever I’m doing a decent amount of cutting or grinding. Can’t see it but I have a skull cap on too to keep sparks off my dome.

Couple times I went it was so bad they had to put a patch over my eye before I left. Dr ask "you have someone to drive you home?" I said yeah they're outside. The next day we were burning a house with the FD and since I couldn't fight fire I got to drive the tanker, with an eye patch o_O

Nice set up. I have trouble with a mask, goes back to the old OBD days..lol. I'll wear one if I'm doing galvanized but don't work on that at all anymore.

I just got tired of all the black boogers from inhaling all that metal dust. I doubt it's good for me in the long run.

I picked up these plasma circle/radius templates. They are sized for the plasma cutter tip and I got them in 1/16" to 1/8" increments. The outside radius of the template cuts 2" larger than the size shown on the template.

What're you going to use that for? Capping tubes?

Yes, that's a good one to use it for, and possibly thick washers. Or if I ever have to cut a nice radius in plate or a hole for tube to pass through.

Does anyone have any recommendations for locking casters for a welding table? I'm doing some searching but wasn't sure if anyone had any personal recommendations.

I got mine from Lowes or Home depot. They were the more HD expensive ones but they are super solid and still feel like they did when they were new.
