I never did get this resolved by Toyota. But after putting on new eibach shocks and a steel rear bumper it mostly went away.

The reason why is the weight of the steel bumper. Iv noticed that even if I put 50-60lbs at the rear of the bed I don’t get the vibes anymore.

I’m having a bedrack put on here soon so I’m
Hoping just having that back there will correct most of it

It might. I think the suspension really helped too!

I just installed a roof rack and now I have driveline vibrations when going between 48-54 mph. It goes away before and after those speeds. Stock on 265-75-16 only weight is the roof rack and a 60 pound camper. Plus humans and some cargo.

    Any ideas?

hmmm. What rack do you have? The rack itself would not cause a “driveline vibration” but could cause a vibration I suppose. I think wind is catching an off-angle on that rack and causing it to vibrate at that speed and your feeling that in the truck. I would make sure everything is tight and installed correctly. If you had no vibration before the roof rack then I’m 99% sure it’s how the wind is catching it at those speeds. The rack is vibrating and transferring that down where you can feel it.

I have a up top bravo.
It’s weird I can feel it all the way in my steering wheel, I checked to see if everything is tight and it is. I will double check again before I drive. It was super windy hitting the side of the truck. It definitely would go away then come back. It’s probably nothing I hope. I swear this site makes me more paranoid then I should be lol.

I made sure I installed it correctly,
but I wonder why it sits on metal to
Metal. The spacers sit over the threaded holes to attach the rack to the roof. It has spacers without any rubber to give it some cushion. I don’t know just my 2 cents.

My DCLB OR has vibrated in that speed range from day one, as with MANY other owners on here, as well as at higher speeds in 70s and above, but it's definitely worst at around 50. Frankly, I doubt it has anything to do with your rack. A lot of Tacomas vibrate.

Really? That’s lame mine has never done that and I’m 800 miles from 40 k
I went to tighten the rack and a few screws needed tightening.. not sure if they got loose or I didn’t tighten all the way but I’ll report back after I take it for a drive tomorrow.

I'm surprised you never had any vibrations before. I hope you get lucky and figure it out, but after fighting with Toyota for weeks and wasting a whole lot of time at 2 different dealership I gave up in order to preserve my sanity. Toyota made it very clear that there's no problem as far as they're concerned.

I've got a 2020 SR5 Double cab 4x2 with the ever complained about vibration while decelerating, mostly in the 30 mph and 20 mph deceleration area.
It has nothing to do with the brakes. It's noticeable - I see a lot of replies from Toyota tech's that this is "normal" - well I think that is BS - Has
anyone had ANY sucess it rectifying this?? If I cant get it resolved I'm going to push for a "Buyback" - Has anyone actually had a buyback performed ??

You'll never get a buyback for this issue. Toyota absolutely refuses to acknowledge that it's a problem, even though it obviously is. I opened a case with Toyota for severe vibrations at various speeds and while decelerating. I did so within a few days of buying my 2020 DCLB OR. I had the truck checked by 2 different Toyota field techs at different dealers. They told me what they tell everyone who complains about vibration... everything is to spec, so no action will be taken. At that point, you can either sue them and lose...and be out the cost of a lawyer or just deal with the vibration. I chose the latter even though I love to fight with corporations. I know when I'm beaten.

All you have to do is read the many discussions on this forum and others to know that vibration is a widespread issue with Tacomas, both 2nd and 3rd gens. It doesn't help our case that there are a lot of fanboys on these forums carrying Toyota's water on this issue. If everyone who has these issues opened a complaint instead of pretending their trucks are perfect, we might be able to draw enough attention to get some resolution.

I believe this issue it’s much to common to force a buy back from it. I’m willing to bet 2/3rds of all Tacoma’s do it some degree. My buddy’s truck has it and he put 20k miles on it and didn’t even realize it until I pointed it out to him.

the only real way to fix it is shims in the rear. There is a thread somewhere on here showing how to measure driveline angles and shims

Nope. I experimented with shims and it didn't do anything.

I measured with a protractor and the angles were already within spec before I made changes.

Hmmmm. Iv seen a few posts of people saying the addressed it with shims but I have no first hand experience with it. Iv decided with my truck it’s not going to go away so I’m just going to live with it. IMO it’s not that bad

New 2020 Tacoma SR5 just purchased. Mine also has a mild steering wheel vibration when accelerating at low speeds only. Has 150 km on it now, so gonna drive it a little more and hope it settles before taking it back in.

I'm sad to report back, but after having new axles, bearing and seals installed, the vibrations have returned about 8000 miles later.

I'm honestly at a loss on how to continue with this issue. The last thing I want to do is waste time at a dealership and watch them replace parts that won't address the root cause.

Could worn shocks or warped rear drums possibly play a role?

after chasing this problem for the last 6 months on my truck I have accepted that this is just how a lot of these trucks are. When my truck only had 600 miles I took it in for this and after not being able to solve the problem I test drove 2 brand new ones and they both did the same thing.

your going to have to accept it like I did or trade the truck in because you will never be happy.

I’m also happy to report my buddies 2016 just passed 120k miles and his has this Small rumble vibration from day one and it has not caused him any issues in the long run.
