That's good to know, I've got $1M+ in Real Estate right now so I was getting a little nervous, but I've got time to wait out the market if it does go sour.

Yea, I was nervous as well but we're actually thinking about selling some property in MD right now since the market is so hot. I'd personally love to re-invest some of that MD real estate out here in UT, perhaps somewhere around Moab or Virgin... :D

Truth. Likely listing mine this weekend.

On a bike note. Is it petty to haggle with the LBS over rough 5% on a bike frame? I ask as a frame I’m looking at can be purchased online for X with no tax and minimal shipping costs. The same frame from the LBS will be X plus tax.

I would ask. Just price comparison. If they can get me the same price I would buy from the LBS. doesnt have to be cheaper.

Offer cash. I've got some friends in the shops here and some of them will take cash and buy the frame on their own pro-deal then sell it to you. Obviously not everyone will do this and it's not really kosher, but it's not uncommon.

It’s the same selling price. Online retailer just doesn’t charge sales tax.

Most places in general will not price match including sales tax differences. I mean you can ask, but I wouldn't expect them to.

I dont use a tailgate pad, but i use a towel (Yeah, the cheapo way ) but ill run a ratchet strap from bed rail to bed rail over my rear tire, and usually that hold down pressure is enough to hold the bike in an upright position in the bed when driving and not let the bike tilt either way.

Yes I won’t say where. But the LBS is amazing. Unfortunately I am about to move. So I might grab a fuel ex 8 before I roll out.

I see nothing wrong with making a reasonable offer. If they counter and it’s close I’d pay the LBS just for the long term help.

RIP Backcountry.com Pro Deal. Exactly what happened, or they'd just share the code (wasn't personalized) and then you could just order yourself.

I actually used to do the same thing! A bit disappointing that the fancy pickup pad isn't working as well as the beach towel

You are supposed to remit the sales tax not paid with your tax return annually anyway which I am sure we all do :rofl:so there is no different in price. Never hurts to ask though.

This is why it’s good to have a functional relationship with a LBS or two. It’s fairly easy to get 20%+ off a frame price on current / desirable products and more on anything not as hot. Parts wise you should be able to match or beat most of the major parts shops online. You get a deal or sometimes take a beating on price but it works out in your favor usually.

The Chameleon has been largely unchanged for two season and is ready for a refresh. Only challenge is how it gets rebuilt. 27.5+ / 29er / single speed / geared? I am ready to go any which way.

Wayfair vs SD was decided so any consumer facing business has to pay the sales tax to that state if they sell to a customer. So technically you wouldnt have to file it yourself anymore.

Also, the corporate filing for it SUCKS ASS. Looking at YOU, NC Dept of Revenue!

I know this thread has a lot of goodness in its 829 pages, but I would love to re-bump requests to see how everyone carries their bikes!

I have my beloved 1UP rack but occasionally it does feel silly having that big ol' bed carrying a few pairs of shoes and a helmet while the bikes dangle off the back.. Tempted to do a Retrax/rack combo for daily driving and add the 1UP as needed for capacity and longer trips. Would also be nice to be able to use the parking sensors again!

Snagged a 2019 Transition Sentinel 29er alloy Sram NX build for $2600 OTD. Normally $3200. So far 10/10 i love this thing. Incredible bike. Can’t wait to take it to national trail at Somo maybe next week.
