I bought a 2016 TRD Sport a few months back and the stock Sport shocks feel and sound like they're about to go. All of my suspension knowledge comes from modding coupes so I have a few questions since this is my first experience with truck suspension components.

I'll start by saying I do not plan on lifting this truck. With that being said I've been looking at local Facebook and CL ads for takeoff suspension.

-How much is stock TRD off-road suspension worth? (less than 1000 miles)
-Will I need to change the leaf springs or control arms if I go from Sport to Off-Road suspension or can I just slap on the OR spring/shock assembly?
-Are there aftermarket brands out there that you guys recommend that will be an improvement over the stock Sport suspension but WONT lift the truck?

The common answer is bilstein 5100s. Theyre adjustable and can ride at stock height. Personally I would take either the billsteins or SR5 takeoffs over TRD-OR takeoffs. But thats just me, I hate the way the stock OR drives.

5100's make sense. I've seen them talked about widely on TW but never realized I could just run them at stock ride height. I'm hoping to take a test drive of a TRD OR at a local dealership this weekend to see how much different the two suspension setups are.

Just sold my stock OR suspension for $200. I had 7,000 miles on them. If your just looking for lift or ride 5100.

Be careful when talking to vendors about suspensions. My experience over the past month is they are super knowledgeable but will push to spend extra money you don’t need to spend.

Found a seller on FB Marketplace asking $200 for OR suspension with less than 250 miles on them. Includes the front and rear shocks, front springs, and control arms.

Good idea. Keep in mind that the Sport had the bigger sway bar, so that will help with the differences in body roll. The nose dive action will still be there though.

Also, a lot of reviews say that the rears are known to overheat and fail on washboard roads. If you plan on driving washboard longer than 10-15 miles, that might be a consideration.

    Like, so many.
If you off road, you're going to notice a big difference over the Sport (or SR5) suspension with the OR suspension.

I don't plan on driving on many washboard roads, but I do drive over train tracks quite a bit for work, but it's not for any extended period of time.

I wouldnt consider myself a wheeler :D but do enjoy hitting some trails whenever I'm out camping/hiking.
