The cut the bolt method works (and I initially considered it) but personally I think it's way more work/overthinking than necessary. With a big adjustable wrench it took about 2 seconds to bend the bit of sheet metal out of the way to get the bolt out. Plus with a wrench you get a nice clean bend, not the hammered mess I've seen some people make on here. It's Not nearly as big a deal as people make it out to be. The other reason I did this is if you bend the metal it's done and you can remove the bolt anytime you need to for servicing or whatever opposed to having to cut a bolt and replace it every time you want to remove it - not that you need to frequently.

Once it's backwards... it stays backwards. Removing the backwards bolt for servicing is NBD. But agreed, each method works and it's really not too much sweat either way. Just go with whatever you're comfortable with.

Not to scare you off... but for whatever reason, Toyota made some changes to the brake lines on the 2020. Just be aware, the videos that you're watching now, might not be the full story. But again, both methods still work and it's easy to sort out.

Totally, more than one way to go about it. Both work great and now that you mention it you're totally right about the reversed bolt for servicing... derp. Being younger and much broker back when I did my UCAs was also definitely a factor in my choice hahaha

i have actually seen the backwards method almost cause a cautastrophe. nut came out and the up and down movement of the a arm driving down the road worked the bolt almost all the way out. got caught at a gas station during a fill up. wasnt on my truck but someone i knew.

@ponethousand who it happened to if i remember correctly. was years ago

Actually really liked the falkens, just wanted to go bigger and more aggressive. The wilroeaks were good all around and quiet, these now hum pretty loud, but that's life w an aggressive mt.

Honestly, you don’t want it anyway. It’s steel and not aluminum which imo may rust up a storm on your rig.

I wish they'd start making bumpers. Having a local full fab shop would be real nice

No reason that wouldn't happen whether the bolt is backwards or not. Gravity isn't playing a factor. The twisting if the UCA bushings on the bolt will drive them in the path of least resistance, forwards or backwards, up or down.

Moral of the story, check your bolts regularly and torque to spec.

    Edit:

Other manufactures install them with the head on the downhill side too. This is a Chevy Silverado...

    this is so true.

but toyota installed them a certain way for a reason. and no reason not to reinstall them the same way

Yea that’s why I haven’t pulled the trigger on one yet, they look great but I’ve heard the rust thing before. If there were more Oregonians that would vouch for it I would give it a try. Still probably bed liner the whole thing when I get it.
