What are people using for closet lights without easy ability to hardwire or outlet plugs nearby? I spent a short amount of time looking for options but don’t love what I see.

Ok help me out. This is the laundry room and I’m wanting to put a sink here, preferably like a utility sink. This is the drain for the washer. Can I drain both the sink and washer into this pipe? Can the sink drain “up” into where it’s at now or does it need to drain lower? Does the washer HAVE to drain “up”? I’m not a plumber...

I'm not, either, but I'd think you could cut the pipe and add in a tee or a wye fitting.

I thought about making it a Y. But do I have to do a Y down at floor level for the sink and extend one side of it up so the washer drains up still?

Don't most traditional sink drains have a u bend for a trap? Seems like that'd line up pretty easily. Just do it with something like this, using the angled port for the drain and the straight portion for the washer. In theory it'd work. I'm not a plumber, YMMV.

Oh I didn’t even think about a pipe like that! I could probably put that down near floor level and extend it up for the washer.

My wife and I built this from scratch two weekends ago. We watched this YouTube DIY
https://youtu.be/RcJ0jQiW-yI , bought the brackets on Amazon and got most of the other stuff from Home Depot. Waterproofed all the wood also. I was thinking 4-5 hrs, it took us 9hrs total. My short bed definitely did some lifting.

1st thing I would do secure that drain line form the washer where it drops in that pipe with a wire tie or tape so it does not pop out and flood the place....

There’s a drain in the middle of the floor, thankfully, but I will do that. I didn’t think of that.

You could do something like this and keep the washer drain where it is.

The top looks like threaded galvanized but it's up against the wall.

Yeah I like that. And the washer drain would be adequate as the sink vent line also right?

I would guess if you are not getting sewer gas exiting it now it would be OK. I edited my above post. It looks like 2" galvanized pipe with a threaded end. Too bad it's against the wall or it would be easy.

I should be able to take a pipe wrench to the whole thing and unscrew it from where it connects just a few inches above the floor. It’s thread on top and threads in down low.

I'm a renter- had to fix a doorframe where the screwholes are bored out. So i stuck in some toothpicks, backfilled with gorilla glue, shaved off the excess, and 12 hours later it was like drilling into fresh wood. Door stays attached to the frame at the hinge now. Cost a couple bucks. Was awesome.

yeah but being that close to the wall it would be tough threading on a y pipe.
