So I need some opinions on buying a Tacoma. Should I get a brand new one and only be able to put about 2k into it or get one for about 20-25k and drop 5-6k into. cant really decide. I had a deal to get a 2011 TRD sport DC LB but the dealer threw some bullshit at me at the last minute so I told him to piss off. Looking for 2006-2008 DC 4X4.

If you plan to keep the truck for long time,, then I would go with -NEW. $2-3000 over ten years is nothing.

I looked for a 2 or 3 year old Tacoma with low miles and the prices were stupid high, about $2000 less than a new one so I just bought a new one.

I bought used. I have bought new before, it is nice to get a brand new truck but not worth it for me anymore. It takes more patience to buy used to get a good deal on a truck that is low mileage in good condition. I bought mine with 35000 miles, 8K less than new.

Just depends on the pricing/deals you are finding. I always have a year/mileage cost difference calculation in my head. When shopping for my tacoma, most '08's and newer were only 2-3k less than brand new, which I thought was silly to buy used with miles and very little warranty over new. I ended up with an '06 with 60k on it but in immaculate condition and saved about 10k over new which tipped by new vs used into the used direction, but took about 6 weeks of shopping daily, which is much easier to do with the internet.
In my search, I think you can easily find an '06 - '08 DC 4X4 for under $20k without too much hassle (from private party).

x2 same thing happened to me. Late model tacos in my area with 20-30k were only a couple grand less than brand new.

well i had a deal on a 2011 TRD sport DC LB for 32k after tax, title and license. I told the dealer i was paying cash from the getgo. When it came time to do the paper work he told me I needed to finance 5k in order to get the $500 military dicount, which really irrated me cause I wasnt informed of this from the beginning. My last truck I bought new F-150 put about 7k into then it was stolen out of my drive way. So now i want a tacoma. If i get something used i will have plenty of cash left over to customize it my way. im thinking an 07-08

Same here... I looked for a used one and the prices were pretty close to new. And you never know how the previous owner treated it. Plus the financing offers are usually better on new ones. A friend of mine that works at the bank told me he could of gotten me 2.9% on a new one... But it was a 2 weeks after I had already financed for 3.9%.

Problem here is used with less than 30k are hard to find and if you do find one its not much cheaper than new. I got a deal on one the service mgr had been driving with 4k miles on it.

Almost $$10k less. I just got my 08 this year with 23,000 miles for $16,500 in excellent condition. Get a platinum warrenty and your good to go.

same here. I couldn't justify paying 28-29 for a 1-2 year old taco with 20kmi. buying new was almost the same price
