We recently got the following question and I wanted to share it as well as our feedback.

There is one compressor and one controller. There are two evaporator systems, one for each compartment. A solenoid diverts coolant to each compartment depending on the feedback it is getting from the temp sensor in each zone.

Each of zone is controlled. This is different than other types of dual zone fridges where there is one large compartment with a removable divider. With these you can’t easily dictate the temp in each compartment - you can only use trial and error.

Hi @Dometic, do know when you guys will get the CFX3 55IM back in stock? I placed an order through REI a little over a month ago and it's been on backorder, so I was curious if you might know approximately when I might get it from them. Thanks!

Unfortunately, we don't have any insight into the inventory and order status at any of our partners. I know we should have CFX3s back in stock soon (if not by EOD today), but that doesn't really help much.

I would suspect that there will also be some inventory going to partners, but how many and who I can't say.

Sorry, we can't help further! :(

That is actually really helpful, so thank you for getting back to me. I don't mind waiting for it and I appreciate the insight!

I just wanted to say thank you to you and your Dometic team, specially to your product manager. After emails and phone calls and a few test my issue was resolved. As I said before this was my first time purchasing a fridge/freezer cooler and I could not be more content. Excellent customer service

So was the fridge functioning fine or was it something you were able to resolve? I’m curious.

This is great to hear. I've not been able to debrief with Reed yet. What did you end up finding?

So after I posted my issue I decided to shut it off and empty out the cooler, then I let it sit for two days. I kept thinking that maybe it had to do with the fact that when it was delivered it was sitting upright for two days because I was away from home and the delivery person didn't know better.

After the two days I ran another test and it was working well. I let it run, with food and drinks, for about three days with out any issues. But I still got in touch with Reed, the product manager, because I wanted to make sure that the cooler wasn't going to fail on me and I wanted to try and understand what happened.

We talked about different scenarios, and we ran a harder test for the compressor to determine if the unit was infact working correctly. I turned on the cooler and set both empty compartments to 0°F and I let it run for 24 hours empty, I kept an eye on the temperature readings/fluctuations on the cooler screen and via the app. It took about four hours to hit 1°F on both compartments, it was fluctuating between 1°F and 5°F. I personally never saw it hit the 0°F. Next day I talked again with Reed showed him some screen shots of the app that I took during the test, we talked about the temps fluctuations and all the results where positive indicating that it was acting as it should. I asked why I never saw it hitting the 0°F, he said that it is difficult to retain a low temp for a long time with the compartments empty. Once the cooler is loaded then it will retain the temp longer, he said that is normal and it was built that way to prolong the life of the compressor/cooler.

He came to the conclusion that it had to do with the cooler sitting upright for a few days and the refrigerant need it to settle. More like a reset of the cooler. Even before all the talk and after the final test he offer me a new replacement if I wanted, I decided not to because I felt confident that things are now working as it should, and I been using it with out any issues so far. Plus I didn't want to deal with the return and waiting several days/weeks for a new one.

As I said before this was my first time purchasing a electric cooler and the customer service I have experince has been very good.

That’s great news. That’s also why I love dometic. Yes you’re paying a premium price, but you’re getting a premium product with outstanding customer service. Well worth it.

Thanks for sharing the details of your testing. I've got a call with Reed and the team this week and will get an update on this as well. Thanks UPS/Fedex for standing it on end?!

Did you let it sit for at least 24hrs when you first received it? I'm pretty sure the box and instructions say to let it sit horizontal for awhile to allow the refrigerant to settle after shipping.

I know, right? I recall seeing this information so it must have been written really large on the box.

Okay @Dometic, I need some research for science... and to keep my wife happy.

I saw on another board that the ice maker compartment on the 55IM is the same size as some ice cream sandwiches. I need to know which brands will fit in that space!

I can go take some measurements for you right now if you like! Not sure which ones would fit. That's a brilliant use though. Maybe I need to test this....

    Yes please!

You can see one brand in the photo, but I didn’t have any luck finding those near me.

They’re exactly 5”x5”x1” each. As far as I know most ice cream sandwiches are the same size so I don’t think you’d need that exact food lion brand.

:rofl:Shouldn't the correct answer be "all of them" to get approval

I don't have a 55IM here at the moment but have reached out to the team to ask for some measurements - because science!
