I almost don't want to scroll through the last few pages of this thread now that there are probably some corona-bargains out there. I bought my truck just before COVID ramped up, but managed to play a few TX dealers off each other for an MT AG Pro. Meanwhile the only two MT ORs I could find within 250 miles of me weren't doing as large a percentage discount, go figure. Ended up only spending about $3,800 more for the Pro than I would have for a quicksand OR, and that truck didn't even have the full Premium/tech package. Gulf States Toyota plays a lot of games, but for whatever reason the last shipment of green trucks from San Antonio left a few unaccounted for in DFW and Houston and that worked out favorably for me.

Just wanted to throw that out there for anyone negotiating for an MT truck in the Gulf States region. Much like KDSS on the 4Runners, GST tries to tell you that they don't exist, but they most definitely do. And if a dealership has one on the lot, they either think it's rarer than gold or they have no idea how to sell it.

You're good, deals are slightly better but not crazy from precovid and inventory is starting to dry up.

Hey man I bought literally last week of Feb before all this, got 12% off MSRP without rebates at the time and the special financing was 2.9% lol, little ticked, but been helping people on this thread and watching deals, nothing too crazy and its becoming harder to find loaded TRD ORs and Pros. All gravy.

Your good to scroll through. Deals are not that great. I have struck out with a couple of dealers and supply is really low. Now you might not want to come in this thread once factories open up because dealers will be getting hit with a whole bunch of inventory but with less buyers than usual which should make for some good deals...at least I hope so for my sake

I had a line on a TRD Offroad before the crisis started but held off because I thought deals would get better if things really went downhill. I was wrong. As soon as 0% APR was announced I jumped but every TRD Offroad with only the Technology Package in concrete, quicksand, silver or gray was sold within a week. I looked in Northern VA but the dealers there said to take the 'online deal' or pound sand. I'd had a truck lined up for $32k which was AWESOME with 1.9% but now I can't find one out the door under $36k at 0%. Dealer in Tysons Corner literally told me he doesn't need my business.

Up side is that the while there aren't many used 3rd Gens around they are willing to deal on them. I found a certified preowned 2018 in quicksand with 12k miles in PA and we worked down the price to something I'm really happy with and the dealer was super happy to have my business. I pick up tomorrow night.

Wish I had the power seats but that was literally the only thing drawing me to a 2020. I'll take my extra $6k and buy a couple of bolts to raise the seat!

I wouldn't count on them just going crazy building trucks, they'll likely poise and adjust production numbers, unlike the domestics, Toyota intentionally is very good with managing demand and inventory to avoid having vehicles sitting and the need to massively discount, part of the reason they maintain great resale. Deals will likely be the same (strong rebate and 0% APR) but at least you'll have likely better options to choose from, I just wouldn't expect a massive influx of inventory and trucks sitting and crazy deals to move them, has never been how Toyota operates. Wouldnt be surprised if dealer's start canceling allocations, etc.

I dropped the ball on this one.
They lowered the price to 42,375 OTD (which is about 38.5 before taxes), 13% off MSRP (not really lowered, this included the updated rebate)

I pressed them for 42 flat 13.5 off MSRP, they said no so I walked,

I went back and they they raised the OTD price to 43.1k (about 39.4 before taxes) 11% off MSRP

I said no they ended up leasing the truck to someone else.

    Now I regret it.

There aren't that many cement OR 4x4 for sale in CA

I feel you. I kept looking for the better deal and thought I was going to finally get the one I really wanted for a price I could brag about. Turns out that doesn't really happen with Tacomas...

Take it for what it's worth - but a couple of the dealers I spoke to said they're not expecting any new Tacoma's to be delivered for about 2 months

Gonna check out a DCSB OR 4X4. MSPR $39792, dealer discount brings to $36877 before tax/fees. From there I have the option of getting the $1750 rebate or 0%apr for 60 months. Any thoughts?

Best case is it's practically a wash at that price for a 5 year loan. I think that's why they did the incentive the way they did.

Here's the math, assuming you pay tax, tags, title and fees out of pocket.

At $36,877 and 0% APR you pay a total of $36,877 (obviously). 0% APR is always the principal at the end so it's easier to just list it out by how much more you pay over 0% APR. Items below start with a principal of $35,127 or $1,750 below your current price.

    0% - any term - 36,877
    1.9% - 60 mo - 36,849 (27.27 savings)
    1.9% - 72 mo - 37,195 (318 paid extra)
    1.9% - 84 mo - 37,542 (447 paid extra)
    2.9% - 60 mo - 37,777 (900 paid extra)
    2.9% - 72 mo - 38,313 (1,437 paid extra)
    2.9% - 84 mo - 38,855 (1,978 paid extra)

So the ONLY time you will save by using the rebate instead of the 0% APR is on a 5 year loan if you get 1.9% APR and you pay your tax and fees out of pocket.

*sigh* I miss the days before kids and college when I could buy a the car I wanted by writing a check. I miss that first Jeep...

FYI, in excel or libre calc, the PMT function is your friend: =pmt(interest/12, months, amt financed)

Do you remember where you read that? Sales Manager was telling me that when I went in today to get my spec sheet for the ordered truck. Everything in their favor goes in one ear and out the other when we’re talking.
