Custom TRD START/STOP Button POLL

Man, these look cool... but as I looked at photo after photo my OCD said NOPE.

 

MGM start ring w/ new button!

 

I have the Red TRD only and it's dead straight

 

So confession time: a week before I ordered this start button I dusted off my old eBay account and ordered the Chinese Prado button also.

By sheer coincidence and surprise they both arrived on the same day:


Both are the similar painted on, etched off design. One is packaged a little nicer .





Hard to tell because the sunlight is harsh this time of day, but Meso's definitely matches the other Meso trim pieces better. It has a slight orange tint to it, as previously mentioned by others.


I like the choice of mix/matching MGM chrome delete parts against the other red trim, I'm happy with how that turned out. I'm undecided on those MGM climate knobs, though. I wonder if I should have gone red on those instead. Thoughts?


Side by side lit up. Again, the Meso matches just slightly better.

I haven’t installed mine yet but if it’s crooked af like a lot of the photos, then I just wasted 30 bucks.

looks like you have the large txt and seems straight but the angle is hard to tell. How’s yours?

 

Mine is also...Small red TRD start/stop... ever so slight, but it's there. I will probably be fine and forget that it even bothers me (low OCD level) I hope.

Edit: Mine looks to be ~2 degrees off (counter clockwise) versus the other letters on the panel... possibly a Toyota manufacture tolerance issue? The product is dope other than my possible perception it is not level.

 

Probably something that can be easily fixed at the laser engraving point. Likely just needs the fixture that holds them during engraving to be rotated a couple of degrees or the software for the engraver tweaked to compensate for that.

Actually given the ones with just "TRD" appear to be straight it is probably just needing a minor tweak in the software for the other engravings.

 

Yup. The first thing I thought after installing my small font red button was that it looked a little off center also.

 

On the computer it’s probably perfectly centered, doubt with MESO’s attention to detail it wouldn’t be. However, I agree that it looks about space too far right.

Any variance in button is probably higher probability that it is variance in the trucks not the button.

Installed mine yesterday (Red TRD - large). Looks perfect to me ... happy

 

If were variance in truck wouldn’t the stock button be off too?To me it seems most with the issue have red small font not sure if ones with black small font have any issue or not.

 

How many people are looking close at the stock button? I never looked closely before. Now with my red one I look all the time. Mine seems straight though

 

If it matters (red trd start/stop large). Finally got it installed and was worried with all the photos of the button being off level. Mine was not.

I removed the whole thing so I could do it on my coffee table and I actually just took the whole switch out for ease of manipulation. Although the switch has only 1 way in and it’s not adjustable I did notice you can actually twist the backside of the switch and it will move a few degrees… so maybe try that for those that are slightly off (no need to remove it completely just pull the console out enough to reach from the top and twist the back of the switch)

removing the button took some force (tool handle is weak and flimsy and just wants to unravel). I did crack a tab on the original but nothing to the switch. The red out of the box does have a orange ish vibe but once installed it does look more red less orange (possibly just eye tricks based on surrounding colors being darker)

 

I just installed mine last night, and I agree, as with everyone else. I have the Small Red TRD START/STOP and I find it off as well when I installed it. I even tried to pop it out, re-install and maybe align it better, but it only goes in one way... sooo... I measured it about 2-3 degrees off level. Maybe @MESO can chime in and help us out?

 

Can you post a picture from the back side to compare them both? -Thanks!

 

I literally just posted a possible remedy right above your post. Yes the switch goes in only one way but you can twist the switch assembly slightly a bit (maybe a few degrees). If you take the panel off and look at the back you’ll see what I’m talking about.
