Well, they're rubbing on something due to something being bent, I think was the damages. I don't know, I haven't gotten pictures or a written statement yet, will be later, I did do some decent hits and if all I need to do is replace a few linkages I will cancel insurance and just do it in my driveway.

If I do it myself, maybe soon. I'm waiting to see what toyota says is jacked up with pictures. If they're telling me I need to replace my skid plate because it's dented, go away. :p

whats involved with a exhaust re-route? Considering it to be able to use a skid plate. My understanding is that it will have more clearance.

Me thinks bite the bullet and repair the truck now and not hammer it as much and then spend as much as I would on a decent set of skids and slim bumpers on a Jeep. 3k and then just bounce that off trees and shit as desired. Unfortunately/fortunately I already have sliders coming in. I’ll probably use those and tone it down for a while and then buy a Jeep soon for the trails.

I could be wrong but not much at all. Go to any exhaust shop and they’re probably well aware of it. I think it’s just straight pipe relocation I don’t think they relo anything else like resonators cats etc.

Jeep for $3k will be in rough shape though. I looked for one as a beater but they were all $5k and over for something that didn't look like it was already beat to shit.

It's just relocating the y-pipe so it doesn't cross under the tcase when crossing from the drivers side to merge with the pass side pipe. It gets relocated and tucked up closer to the floor/ around the rear of the tcase instead of under.

Should be pretty cheap. Or get a set of Doug thorley y pipes, iirc they are routed that way. At least on my FJ they were tucked nice and close to the floor.

thanks, I just started reading on it. Looking at some used skid plates that require it.

Yeah, I looked at one point too because I figured an old YJ or TJ would be a nice beater. Figured I could find something for $2-$3k that was decent. Like you said, the condition I was looking for was more in the $5-$7k range.

i mean I’d be buying it to absolutely beat to shit so that’s fine. I’d probably get auto trans too those tend to be cheaper. But like 3 to 5k ish would easily pass RI inspection. Whatever I’m only like four minutes into looking into them on fb marketplace. Aftermarket is also cheaper too :D

with no basis in cost if I had to guess like under 200 or so. Maybe even a lot less. Call a few places it’s popular enough one has bound to do it. Hell they might sell diy kits on eBay.

How’s everyone holding up these days? Regretting not buying a freezer 6 months ago when we were thinking about it . Now it’s it’s a little tougher now . My FIL has a upright freezer I can pick up Sunday that’s in decent shape so we should be ok

looking to sell my house I think . Move north with smaller house and more land . Trying to talk wife out of house with same mortgage like we have now. Seems to me to defeat the purpose of my opinion of finding work that requires so many hours of work and no life..

if I can cut my mortgage to roughly half , that would be huge.

How long are they giving you for the deadline?

I got mine done last spring at Copeland. It's important to have done if nothing else b/c you then get a second and final inspection before the final deadline.

Mine's a 2010 and when I got the letter a year ago there were 2 different deadlines to get the first inspection (when they will do CRC if it passes) and second (final one you have to have had the CRC for)

More of a coating per se. I got mine last year, I'll get a pic of my frame tomorrow and post. They "could" be using something different now though.

Yup plus they require it to be done in order to get a second inspection if it passes the first one. If you don't do the CRC and it's near the deadline, your frame fails and gets replaced or passes and you're SOL in the future. That's why I made sure I got mine in for the CRC when I could. But of course I'm going to wait it out as long as possible for the second inspection..most chance to fail.
