I actually just bought OEM LBJs already and they are being shipped out. Tie rods I think were replaced at 180K miles or so

    Get bolts too?

With front sway bar? Not that it matters for me since I’m not running any but just curious on the matter.

Also, kind of surprised this isn’t something that is done more often. I didn’t even know about it until you just now

We haven't put the sway bar back on yet. But it doesn't look like it'll be a problem. If anything, the Taco OTRE's shape gives more room.

Hmm, I’ve been wanting to throw in a new set of LBJs soon. You’ve got me thinking big time

I don't see why Toyota even did the 2 different set ups... or why everyone doesn't do this swap. The ITREs are the same for both. The OTREs thread right on... and the spindle is the same, so the LBJs bolt right on to it.

Taco LBJs suck... but not half as bad as T4R LBJs.

I’m even more surprised that after years of being on a 4Runner forum, I can’t recall anyone trying to do this at all

I could have sworn you told me about it... lol

Not sure where I even got the idea then... but it works, and it's been aligned with no issues.

I know I’ve mentioned it but I never knew 100%. I think somewhere either here or elsewhere on this forum, we’ve at least talked about it before

@MattJakobs ... I'm looking around and others have done it. Some say you'll lose turning radius... bullshit... Robert's T4R can turn a circle inside the circle I can turn in my Double Cab. I don't see how it could turn a tighter radius than it does now.

matt I might have to utilize your expertise on the timing belt service. Can someone also give me a crash course in what the fck the different bars are in the back of the runner? I see the Panhard and what are the others???

@MattJakobs is WAY more versed on the rear suspension than I am. We haven't done anything with the panhard or control arms on the back of Robert's truck yet.

I don’t have steering stops so I wonder what it’d do to mine. I’m assuming I’d have the same steering amount until the LBJ hits the LCA

Panhard, upper links, and lower links. It’s a cluster back there. Anything in particular you want to know?

There’s a huge thread here about what the Panhard does and how it can effect your alignment and drivability. For lifted 4Runners, it’s recommended that you do a Panhard correction kit (@eimkeith is the most popular one out there). It’ll help with your body roll and realign your rear axle alignment.
I’ve still yet to do the correction kit - I went the adjustable Panhard way, before the Panhard correction kit was a thing. I do have an @eimkeith panhard correction kit waiting to be installed and I’m picking up a stock panhard bar this weekend. Right now, my body roll is insane and I’m expecting a much better drivability with this kit. I’ve heard nothing but great things about it.

this rig already came with an adjustable Panhard but it has a bit of surface rust so I’m either going to have to get a new one OR sandblast this and repaint lol

down the line it sounds like I’m going to want to redo the entire suspension
