Does this clearly mean that because I unlocked the 04B04 to test out the alternator settings that any this rollout (potentiality for AT's) will already put me behind the current Toyota release? Is that correct @OVTune?

One more dumb question since I'm still waiting for my Tactrix and the MT tunes to be released:

With VF Tuner, do we only have to share our ECU ID with OVTune or do we have to share our computer info and then our truck info in two separate emails?

For vF, your account is based off of your order. You don't need to send anything in. Once the ECU that you want is unlocked, you'll just grab it and spend the credits.

Whoa! Huge if true and a huge timesaver for OV. I may have misunderstood the directions that come in the email or they may still have a lot of copy/pasta from the older flash manager days. Looking forward to testing this out!

The Master Key still comes from ECUTek in the UK, but yeah, less to manage.

After the order notice, this was the only email that I got when upgrading from the dongleless Flash Kit. Yours should be similar?

It is said that we will get another for the Tune Pack.

Other than initial registration, you don't need us at all for ecu unlocking, editing, flashing, etc

My dealer just flashed me to 04B04 today.

I would have thought they would flash me to the most recent version.

So if I’ve got my .reg file, no need to send you anything else to tune up to 2.0 when its released this weekend? Just match the ECU to the downloaded tune and off I go?

When are the registry files being sent out? I sent in my system id through responding to the master key email. My request number is 15126

    Possible dumb questions inbound...
I purchased vf Tuner($200) and the cable from OVtune. I don't have my cable yet and haven't unlocked my ECU or sent OVtune what ECU I have in my 2020 TRD OR manual transmission. I have 3,500 miles on it.

My question is do I need to worry about unlocking my ECU and sending in my system ID, then getting it serviced at Toyota(5,000 and 10,000) and them updating and changing my ECU? I read about new ECU types.

Will it still be able to be unlocked without paying for additional unlock tokens? I plan on flashing my ECU back to stock before each time I take it to Toyota and once I get comfortable flashing it, unless that is total overkill. I'm just really worried about voiding my 100,000 mile warranty. I don't want to be the first guy getting a completely voided or partially voided warranty due to this but I very much want to run this magical 2.0 that everyone says transforms the truck.

Thanks for any responses to my questions.

For a new vF customer, you don't need to send anything to OVT after you order. A Master Key will be on the way.

But yes, yesterday @OVTune noted that if you open your existing ECU and get the TSB, you'll need to buy more credits for the new ECU ID no matter who updates your Taco.

Regardless, the TSB software and vF are not available just yet. Just hang tight and see what develops for the TSB.

@OVTune - I received the masterkey two days ago, I downloaded and installed the software and ran into the problem of Master key (Email) not recognized. I traded in my dongle for free vF tune, order no. 6318.

Thank you for the response. I did receive my vftuner master key and have tracking on my cable. I just need to wait for the tunepack to have the 2.0 in it(and purchase it) and I will start reading the instructions again and proceeding with the flash I think.

So when I take my truck in to be serviced at the dealer, I can request they do not flash my truck with a new TSB software update?

I would let them flash if they want to. You want to be on the latest ECU ID no matter what. It sounds like OVT will have 2.0 Tune support ready for the 2016s and 2017s for 04B14 in a short time.

No one knows if 2018s or 2020s MTs are affected yet. It is a coin toss at them moment.

If you look back at old MT Update thread, it took a couple weeks for us to figure out what was going on and to actually get folks flashing.

If you don't want to spend an additional $75, I would wait awhile to see if they come out with ecu update on your truck. If $75 doesn't bother you, unlock your current calibration.
