Ground moving under you is a very eerie feeling. I've only felt very minor stuff and that was enough.

 

I haven't experienced a tornado or an earthquake. In New England, they happen, but barely. Like a tornado here takes out a 3 foot section of fence and it's gone. An earthquake is a minor vibration.

 

Yeah, but...

Tornadoes: "I will rearrange your county."
Earthquakes: "I will knock all the shit off your walls and rattle some dishes."

Nor'easter: "Let's add ice and snow to a fucking hurricane."

 

Not fun when the hurricane decides it wants to hang around for the weekend.

True that living on the shore can be risky, but the pictures above aren't near the shore at all. Those were taken in Vermont

I googled Vermont I remember hurricane Irene stalled over Vermont and did some crazy damage. Even thought I'm closer to the ocean, my area wasn't hit quite as hard.

This is where I live, my house has been standing on the same piece of ground since 1978 (42 years). Never been wrecked by a storm.

Millions of people live along coastline all over the world, sometimes you get hit. So do the people living in tornado alley and they aren't by a coastline, some of them have lost there homes multiple times and here I am living on the coast and never have (knock on wood).
What about people living on the east side of the Sierra's? They aren't going to get hit by a storm, but they get earthquakes that can tear your house down. People live in mountains and they get their houses burned up by fire.
Not really sure the point you're trying to make.
