The only place in the bham area I would go to for something like that is The Off-road Connection in Fultondale. It’s mainly a Jeep shop, but he is more knowledgeable than any of the clowns at 4wp or southern off-road.

I need some hands on info. Mine is having issues. I got second opinion yesterday and there is a big price difference between the two.

I thought he was referring to not wanting to have to have his truck down while sending them to be regeared. Only saying he can order diffs and send cores in after install so no down time, lol. If he don't want to install them he can pay someone or have a mod day, but 4WP would be the last place I would pay to install anything.

my experience dealing with them and the lack of knowledge they had for property setup IFS systems. Haven’t gone to either in 6 or so years, so maybe they have changed.

I don't really want to do the work myself. I have another vehicle anyways.

4WP I would go to if same guys worked there from a year ago. The good ones have moved onto their own personal shops or elite offroad here in Chelsea (booked solid).

As of right now - redo suspension or regear (money wise). I can't decide hah

Check around the price will vary a lot for the same service. 4WP wanted $179 for alignment I can get done for $59
Off-road Connection that @BamaTaco56 mention is a good place, they build offroad vehicles that they drive offroad so they understand offroading too

yea they a pricey and southern offroad is worse. But ive had good experiance with them in the past year or so. I just do everything myself now since ive got the space and tools. Pretty much touched evry bolt on my truck and havent had any issues lol.

I dont really see a need for regear unless your adding a ton of weight. I would do suspension

    figured.

Most shops around here build trucks for looks and not performance. though you can’t really blame them when 90% of the trucks on the road in this area never see dirt. They just cater to where the money is. Maybe 4wp stores out west might be a little better, but there are also more specialty over there also.

I just see 4wp as the overpriced Walmart of the off-road world

i agree and saves a chunck of change lol. Plus imy thought was i need to know how to fix something that breaks on the trail. so i need to get familiar with my truck! Im no qualified mechanic by no means but i consider myself knolwdgeable enough to make some work properly lol.

If you have confidence in yourself, you are just as qualified to do the work on your truck as any other “qualified” mechanic. You will also take more Time and care to ensure it’s done properly.

They are a lot of shops that do good work for a much cheaper price than 4WP.
They have some good prices on parts when they have a sale, they will even ship things for free to your house. But even the guy that quoted me the alignment price thought it was funny, he told me a place that did his cheaper.
