I dropped my F800GS the first day I got it, I can't even blame it on the tires.

Coming into my parking lot and a guy was coming up the exit on the wrong side of the road around a turn. Grabbed a big ol handful of front brake like an idiot and it just tipped over sideways.

So I always come up with questions as I scoot around. For example this morning.....rolling down the street ( 2 lanes) businesses/driveways on the right, I’m in the right lane and usually ride more towards the left hand lane. However, with cars pulling out of the driveways on my right, I usually position myself closer to them so they see me. Make sense?? Or am I setting myself up for a wreck?? :notsure:

Also, when y’all park/store your bike, is she in neutral? 1st? Picking up samiches today, she was in one of her moods and I couldn’t find neutral. So I parked her in first. :notsure: At home I mess around with her enough to park her in neutral.

    Who’s riding today?? :bikewheelie2:

I tend to ride as you mentioned. If they don’t see you, now you have more lane to move out of the way and not get hit. At least that’s how I see it.

don’t think parking matters. I’ve only parked in 1st once and forgot I did that, turned the bike on and stalled it out immediately (this was within the first 2 weeks of owning it). Now I always park in neutral, mostly because I back in to curb spots and I just throw it in neutral not have to hold the clutch in while backing it up

Just got word that our office is now closed through the end of this month so still no riding to work for me. It’s been so windy down here every day that when I get done with work I don’t even want to go ride cuz I just get blown all over the place

I freaking love the lock ons. That’s the only thing I use on my mtn bikes and I have them on the KTM. They don’t make them for the grom unfortunately.

My mindset is a tiny bit different. If I have driveways on my right, I'll generally ride in the left wheel rut so I have a better angle on seeing any hidden driveways/so they have a better angle on me, too.

I park in neutral. I generally start my bike before I get on it and if it's in gear I have to hold in the clutch (for obvious reasons). Only exception was before I had a rekluse clutch and would park on a downhill incline. I'd leave it in first then to lessen the chance of it sliding and knocking itself off the kickstand, but not that I have the rekluse the clutch isn't engaged when the engine isn't spinning so it's fairly moot point.

I ride in the left of the lane almost always. If a car pulls out in front of you doing a right turn you can go the left lane if its safe. If they pull out doing a left turn you should probably be hitting the brake either way. I always cover my brakes and clutch when i see cars sitting to come out anyways.

    Park in neutral.

I like to keep my bike parked in 1st gear when I am out and about just in case it’s on a slight hill, don’t want it rolling away. At home in the garage it’s always in neautral so I can roll it around.

I tend to ride where I think people are likely to see me in their mirrors. If I'm in the left lane, I stick to the right. If I'm in the right lane, I stick to the left. That way i'm in a position that hopefully drivers in front and to my sides are likely to see me.

I always park in gear after I had my bike roll forward off the kickstand on the slightest of inclines and shattered my clutch lever 4 hours from home.

I haven't ridden much in the last 4 years because reasons but I got the bike tuned up at the end last season and promised myself I'd ride more. I have been riding to work as much as I can the past two weeks but unfortunately she started acting up on me last night on the way home and I lost power. I am getting a code for a bad oxygen sensor so will have to trouble shoot that:annoyed:

Yea, riding in the wind sucks. Unfortunately the majority of my commute is the 5, but since the "quarantine" traffic(lack of) is awesome. I am considered essential(automotive business), so have been working the whole time, just cut back to 32hrs a week.

My commute isn't too bad, I'm just next to Main Place mall so I take the 55 to the 5 and I'm only on the 5 for a few exits. But since the shutdown, I've been working from home so I only get to ride after work or on weekends and this damn wind is just nonstop the last month

I never ride to work because I'm a single dude who brings his dog to work. He'd be insane if I didn't (working dog) and I work at least 10 hours a day. But also, i ride an air cooled bike, and I'm only about 4 miles from my shop. not enough to get temperatures where they need to be.

As a result I'm left with weekends. so far it's been a decent spring I'm getting about 150 miles every weekend.

Same. I am 1.1 miles from work so it's not even worth starting the (carbed) motorcycle up. Most days, when I don't have to leave the immediate area for work, I ride my bike, and on a really nice day I will walk.

I do that because I've had wind push it forward off the side stand, smashing turn signal, mirror, and I thing some other stuff. again, such is life. always in 1st, pushed forward so the engine engages and wont go even an inch
