Fortunately I’ve never had that issue with any of my Tacoma’s but have seen many that have rusted away. I do feel lucky!

@bobsuruncle so what’s left from the original truck? Cab, bed, wiring harnesses, rear axle housing, interior, doors and a couple windows?

There is one bolt under the dash that is still original...

Pretty much. I'll have all newer running gear, engine from an 09 trans and tcase from a 2012 t4r and diffs, front 2017 Tacoma, rear 99 t4r, on a new frame with old cab and interior and power rear sliding window from a 2017. :anonymous:

In hindsight, I wish I would have just cut mine. Not because I was afraid to bend sheet metal, but because my cab is off centered just slightly enough to where one side came out with very minimal bending, and the other side I had to actually cut sheet metal to get the bolt out. At that point though, the dealerships were all closed and I couldn't get a bolt.

My hats off to you man, it’s a lot of work:hattip:My 96’/02’ Honda Passport Buick radiator hosed 3.0 radiator manual hub conversion geared and locked automatic to 5speed conversion dual battery super beast was quite the project and it’s still ugly as sin:anonymous: lol, the average person would look at it and think it’s just another Tacoma, but a Tacoma enthusiast that knew what they were looking at would be like WTF did you do and why does your 96’ have a tilt steering wheel with a rear window wiper switch and a 3rz with a 4 port intake.

If any one ever asked me “would you rather have to cut a bolt off or bend 3 inches of sheet metal” pretty sure I’d choose sheet metal 9.9 times out of 10 unless cutting the bolt meant I get to retire early or something
