It's the opposite, companies are ceasing production of 1st gen aftermarket products because 1st gens are becoming less popular in the aftermarket.

Hard to see that when you're on a site like this, because so many of us have 1st gens and want more aftermarket support, but in reality the demand for 1st gen products vs 2nd and 3rd gens is very small and getting smaller every year.

well it makes sense beacuse of the age. But most of us are not going to go dump gobs of money into a 05 or newer rig just to thrash it on the trails and then attempt to play with the electricals and all the other headaches 2nd gens have. Ive spent 8 years learning my headaches on my 1st gen and i want to stick to them because i know this evil haha.

@MPRAMIREZ1 I don't know about the long range fuel tank, but for bumpers check out Coastal Offroad and Northwest Trail Innovations for 1st gen stuff, they make DIY kits and I think at least one of them has a swing out option.

For the price of these aftermarket parts you could pay a fab guy on here to make them for = or less.

I f'ing hate using jerry cans, takes forever to empty and can't get a good angle on the can to get the last bit of fuel out of them lol. Been wondering if those Scepter plastic ones would be easier to use

To an extent, a lot of items found on modified 1st gens are custom one-off; take @Fuergrissa swing out and such, or @turbodb bed rack he's made for others (including me), custom sliders @GHOST SHIP he made for me as well and swing out he's made for @eon_blue

Items that were at one point being mass produced can only be found on the used market, like my Wilco tiregate

As mentioned earlier, beating a dead horse

There's your answer then. Why would they bother making it for you if the demand is so low.

If I spend all the time to R&D and take on the liability am I gonna make any money back? Probably not

FWIW aftermarket fuel tanks for Superduties are like $1500-2000 and I don't see many people willing to drop that coin on a Tacoma that is 16+ years old

yeah I wouldn't want to spend that kind of money on an aftermarket tank, the ones for 2nd and 3rd gens are crazy expensive too. I'll just put up with using jerry cans when I have to, which really isn't that often.

Plus I can't imagine what the lean would look like with a bigger gas tank on one side of these trucks lol. My Expos would sag visibly to one side with a full tank of gas but they were shit springs so..

You're referring to an aux fuel tank with in-cabin switch and monitoring right?

Someone would just need to fab up the tank, incorporate pick up/pump and good to go for our trucks.

A lot of our customers opt to add one in their trucks and it costs roughly 1200 total.

But I'm guessing the other poster isn't looking to use bed space?
