Same here. Just ordered a set of their "Poncho" gloves a few days ago after seeing them back in stock for a brief moment.

Yep, I just washed my flamingo pair after [redacted] seasons, and I think the gunk was the only thing holding them together. Def worse for wear than when I put them in.

That is a relative question. It's a great bike if you grew up on $150-200 Walmart bikes like I did and just want to get back into the sport 10 years later. That being said I outgrew it in 2 months of riding trails and getting really hooked into the sport. I then bought a used full-suspension which I used for a few months and am now on my third bike which is a Devinci Django. It all depends on what and how you ride and how serious you think you'll take this sport. I still have my Trek Marlin 7 and keep it as a commuter/gravel bike and as a guest-bike for friends and family because it's a great little bike. I'd love to upgrade the fork, tires, gears and other things but it's a very limiting frame depending on what you want to do.

I know the bike industry will shun me for this, but I always recommend buying used bikes. You can get so much more for your money. If you've got an APO address most people on Facebook will ship via USPS if you pay for it, which opens up a lot of options.

Haha I don’t think I’ve washed mine, it’s only been a seasonish since the regular ones are too thick for my liking during the summer. I need to try their light weight ones.

Yes. Got lucky and stationed in Rota.

Thank you. I'll look into Orbea. I liked the giant the but I'm in no hurry so I can keep shopping post lockdown and look for more deals if needed. Found a deal on a Perception Kayak that I need to snag up first.

The 'MyO" program. I'm playing with it now. Thank goodness I just bought a bike in the same category.

edit: It's only for their top line bikes though, so the $10K Rallon in the enduro category, etc.

I'm definitely inclined to agree with you. I only caution people new to the sport because they can be unfamiliar with how to checkout a bike. Pinkbike put out this video not so long ago, which is definitely biased but they do hit all the high points: https://www.pinkbike.com/news/field-trip-how-to-buy-a-used-mountain-bike.html

Completely agree. There are a lot of room for error, especially if unfamiliar.

So did some digging, and it appears my brakes warble due to contamination. Gonna sand the pads since theres plenty of life left, but it says to use isopropyl alcohol on the rotors. Given the empty shelves at all the pharmacies of IPA around town, can I just use brake clearer like we do for our trucks? I don't see why not, but figured I'd see if anyone has better knowledge.

I've seen people clean their rotors with a small heating torch too.

No I would not recommend that. Not for the sake of the rotors but for the sake of the pads. Yes it will 'clean' the rotor but as soon as your pads touch it again they will get contaminated and there ain't no coming back from that

I've been battling brake issues last few months so I am very astute to these subtle changes lol

Did a little digging, and it seems like brake cleaner has some oil in it to keep the rotors from rusting, doesn't bother car pads, but will bother MTB pads.

Which means I now know how I smoked my pads in the first place... cuz I cleaned my rotors with brake cleaner after I swapped the rotors over from my old wheelset. I'm a wizard!

I’ve was going through the same problem, Bad turkey noises and mine were to the point that I barely had any stopping power with the rear brake. I just put on new pads and a rotor and it’s good to go. Not the cheapest fix but it’s certain unless you contaminate them again haha

Despite being a Hokie, this is not a gobble I enjoy. Front brake is the worst and has maybe 50% authority of what it should.
