I went with 1/8” steel and the 1/8” aluminum angle will be the one planted on the ground.

Hey guys - I posted in the Buy/Sell/Trade/Other section that I'm on the hunt for a used Longbed Drifter (I know right, impossible to find).

If anyone is planning on letting theirs go in the future, please shoot me a message! Willing to travel 1,000-1,500 miles from CA in any direction except west.

Got cash ready to buy. Either a Drifter or I'm picking up a FWC and leaving for 3 months full-time traveling. Need something ASAP.

it’ll be strong enough while you’re off-roading as long as it’s supported by the slides it whatever you plan on using for slides.
It’ll be flexy as hell when extended.

Edited the below to make sense.
Maybe 3x3 would be better than 2x2. This is 3x3 and works well but not 60” and it’s two tiers. A bit different.

We have them on our yakima rack on top of our truck, also with maxtrax pins and padlock so they do not get lifted.

Another van convert here, here's our old vanagon. Peace of mind and ability to get places this weak 2wd couldn't take us is awesome.

What? No, the door does not get insulated. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-drifter-specs-and-faq.540826/page-155#post-22066823

They're just saying it's harder to insulate around the frontrunner door in the post you quote.

Edit: Here's a pic of insulation with frontrunner door https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-drifter-specs-and-faq.540826/page-154#post-22065905

That's what I meant to say. No modification to the door itself. Thanks for clarifying what I was thinking and couldn't write down...

I wouldn't drill through our frontrunner doors. I think Anderson came up with something that could be used to mount stuff though.

Has anyone made their own version of insulating the front runner door?

I plan to have that on my build

anyone with a 270 shadow awning using the rain gutter they make for it? It looks like it would be a nice way to stop some rain. I’m wondering how you installed it on the back of the drifter. Cheer!
