Makes sense, again I'm trying to learn about the 3d printing but its really complicated to me. I just think this idea is a really great one for everyone. The applications to print a "mold" to hold lights or anything else is futuristic to me. Imagine making other things to mod your Tacoma in ways most people haven't even thought of yet. Cheers to everyone who made this thread possible and great ideas.

I just uploaded the design files to the site you linked, looks like printing all 4 pieces at 30% infill comes out to about $60 shipped.

If you, or anyone else I guess, wants these printed and shipped to them, I can do that.

This is probably a dumb question but what is the "30% infill" you are saying? Again I know nothing about this process. Thanks

infill is how "solid" the part is. 100% infill means it is completely filled in with plastic and a solid piece. 30% means it has 70% air inside of it. It might make sense to think that a completely solid piece would be the strongest, but there were some studies done that anything over 25-30% infill is making the part heavier and not adding much more strength. I usually print all my stuff at 30%.

I've attached an image that help you visualize what I mean

Paying $60 for just the 3D printed housings is crazy. It costs about $2 to make four of them.

yeah i Need to calculate how much the filament cost is, I’m guesstimating it’s cheap as hell since the pieces aren’t very large or heavy. What do you think a fair price would be to print these and ship them to members? I’m open to ideas to help other members on the forum out since most people don’t have printers

While I'm not a fan of "Raptor Lights", I think this tread is pretty awesome. It's nice to know the world isn't full of greedy and self centered people! Carry on the good work!

If you are looking at cost of filament, if you go with a 1kg of Hatchbox ABS from Amazon, 1 of these is about 0.35 cents of material at .2, 20-25% infill. You are looking at well under .50 for .2 30% as well. So $2 in material would be over charging on material alone. Time wise all 4 would take a few hours to print. That is probably more of the cost since you are occupying your printer for someone's print. If you want to vapor smooth ABS to make it stronger and cleaner looking, that is worth something too. If I didn't have to ship and go to the post office and deal with all the supplies to do all that, I would probably charge somewhere around $10 for that print. Shipping annoys me far more than printing, not worth my time. $60 is ridiculous.

This is why we’re all looking for ideas or suggestions. I normally don’t charge anyone for printing but that’s because it’s usually for friends who have bought me many beers. I’d love to print these for people who want them but don’t have access to a 3D printer. Just trying to gauge how much people who have 3D printers should charge for these.

I asked another friend who sells 3D printing services and he said a fair price would be $25 + shipping

That seems high since you aren't doing design.

It's half of what the website linked above is charging, and they aren't doing design work either. I'm ok with asking for 25 plus shipping to anyone that wants them

Another option for anyone once this corona stuff is done is public libraries. A lot of city libraries have 3D printers you can print at that are very reasonable for printing by time/material cost. I know the downtown Chattanooga one offers that service. Used it before I got my printers.

If anyone is interested in the TRD Pro lights version of the bezels, I am going to see if the OP is OK with us selling our modified versions at a price that makes sense to cover parts, wear and tear on printer components, and shipping costs. Not trying to make a profit, just trying to help out the community if we can. PM me if interested and if OP is good with it, we can start production soon.

Installed my lights today. Built a wiring harness with 18 AWG wire and an add-a-fuse to the injector fuse. I think it looks pretty good, especially since I painted my OEM grille satin black.

The satin black looks great with the white.
