Stand by for blah blah blah

    Here we go

Crawl box with gasket is back in. I'm not going to pull an all nighter again. Not worth it. I pulled the drive shafts and rolled it out onto my driveway. Figure that'll give the sealant time to marinate some. I'll winch it back in in the morning then I'm going to drop a half quart in it before I put the xfer case back in. If it leaks... Well I really don't know what I'm going to do. Fully expecting it tho.

Man it hurts to read all this, but I get where you are at. I wish I could offer a solution to your oil leaks or at least lend a hand. Having put that whole thing in and taken it out several times doing my test fitting, I know it sucks to do it alone. And you are doing everything right, not that you needed me to tell you that. I wouldnt expect it to ever be leak free, but hopefully not pissing oil everywhere.

In retrospect, if I had taken into the consideration the cost of custom making that stupid f-ing adapter that supposedly didnt exist, (even though i knew deep in my soul there was a box them of sitting in a warehouse somewhere), it would have been cheaper to do the atlas from a parts perspective and fewer issues, just more fabrication than I am capable of and not many people have done it.

    Morning Josh

    :fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed:

Me too! About to go get busy. Slept in pretty late this morning, must have been tired or something.

It is what it is. I did a pretty custom mod I've got some pretty custom problems. It is pretty frustrating knowing 1) my case is a freak, 2) I paid 3x what similar cases sold for when they were readily available 3) Marlin lead me to believe it was only the adapter that wasn't their product and 4) I've never seen anyone elses leak like this.

Ain't that the truth? There's definitely a box full of those adapters on a shelf somewhere! One day Marlin is going to come out and say they have 200 6spd adapters on hand and we'll know why.

lol hindsight is 20/20. If I had any idea I'd be doing this much work to stop a leak I'd have probably gone in a different direction from the beginning. This still seems like the more simple option but labor and man-hour wise, I dunno. Not sure I want to figure out how many hours are into this project already lol.

Fingers crossed today is the day. I'm going to go drop some oil in and see what happens.

1 quart in so far and no immediate leaks... Not holding my breath but so far that's a positive.

    Well that sucked
I couldn't get it to balance on the jack with the drop for the front shaft so I ended up balancing it on my crotch, Duffman thrusting it into position...

Yeah there is just no way to balance that thing on there especially without the crawlbox attached, and it has to be spot on perfectly vertical and line up with the holes.

I am seriously considering a 4 point adapter something like this for next time round:

That looks like it would work pretty good

    I had seen this one

    upload_2020-5-7_19-19-29.jpg

At Northern Tools but for a few bucks more yours looks like it'll work a lot better. Fingers crossed I don't have to do this again any time soon.

    Still no leaks
    Hopefully it stays that way

2.5 quarts in, sprung a nasty, nasty leak. But! I think I've fixed it. I got it down to a trickle, then a week, and I haven't seen anything for a few minutes now. Keeping my fingers crossed

I looked at those too but I honestly dont know how much better it would be than the HF trans jack. It's a wider platform with arms, but unless the arms adjust height or you can tilt that platform 45 degrees you're still on a flat surface. Would love to see one with a tcase on it angled to install.

    :annoyed:

Between the tcase and crawlbox then?
